Katharina Böhm Reveals 17-Year Separation From Rick Ostermann

The actress shares her happiness living alone and future plans for a women's shared living community.

Katharina Böhm, a well-known actress in Germany, has recently opened up about her personal life, revealing that she has been separated from director Rick Ostermann for 17 years. The 60-year-old star, famous for her role as Commissioner Vera Lanz in the ZDF crime series "Die Chefin," expressed her contentment with her solitary life during an interview with the magazine Bunte.

In a candid discussion, Böhm shared, "I have never talked much about my relationships, but maybe I should say at this point that I have been separated from director Rick Ostermann for 17 years." This revelation comes as a surprise to many, as rumors persist online suggesting that the two are still together. However, Böhm clarified, "He is happily married now and has three children," putting those speculations to rest.

Böhm’s relationship with Ostermann, who is 46, was largely kept private, and she had previously avoided discussing it in depth. Now, she feels liberated from the weight of those rumors. "I do not understand why it still says on the internet that we are a couple. I have been extremely happy for ten years," she stated, emphasizing her fulfillment in being single.

Living in her parents' house near Munich with her two dogs and a cat, Böhm described her solitary life as one filled with joy. "I come very well with myself, and for this happiness, I do not need a partner. On the contrary, I am better off than ever before in my life – except maybe when I just became a mother and had a total serotonin high," she reflected.

As the daughter of the late Karlheinz Böhm, a legendary actor known for his role in the "Sissi" trilogy, and Barbara Lass, also a celebrated actress, Katharina has always been in the public eye. However, she has managed to maintain a level of privacy regarding her personal affairs, often speaking only about her son, Samuel, who is now 26 years old and from her previous relationship with actor Bernhard Schir.

In her recent interview, Böhm also discussed her future plans. She is contemplating the idea of establishing a women's shared living community in her home, possibly with her friends and half-sister Daniela. "I might start a girls' shared living community in my house. This is an idea I often discuss with my friends," she shared, hinting at a desire for companionship that doesn't necessarily involve romantic relationships.

Her openness about her happiness and independence is refreshing, especially in an industry where personal lives are often scrutinized. "Since menopause, I have been balanced, relaxed, and have far fewer health issues than before," she noted, highlighting her journey towards self-acceptance and happiness.

Despite her fame, Katharina Böhm remains grounded, focusing on her well-being and the relationships that matter most to her. "I have a large chosen family that is very present in my life. The house is rarely empty," she remarked, underscoring the importance of community and friendship in her life.

As she continues to shine in her role on "Die Chefin," which she has played for over a decade, Katharina Böhm's story serves as a reminder that happiness can be found in solitude, and that one's worth is not defined by their relationship status. Her journey reflects a broader narrative of self-discovery and contentment that resonates with many.
