Kat Timpf Diagnosed With Cancer Hours Before Son's Birth

Fox News personality opens up about her surprising diagnosis and motherhood experience.

Kat Timpf, the Fox News personality known for her appearances on the show Gutfeld!, revealed on social media Tuesday her emotional experience of being diagnosed with breast cancer mere hours before giving birth to her first child. Timpf’s announcement came late last week, detailing how she had received her cancer diagnosis just 15 hours before labor began.

On X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Timpf wrote, “Last week, I welcomed my first childinto the world. About fifteen hours before I went intolabor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.” This harrowing news arrived when she was already overdue and focused on the impending delivery of her baby.

Gratefully, Timpf stated the cancer had been found at Stage 0, with her doctors assuring her it was unlikely to have spread. She humorously reassured her followers by saying, “Or, as I’ve explained to the few people I’ve managed to tell about it so far: Don’t freak out. It’s just, like, a LITTLE bit of cancer.” Despite the potential gravity of the diagnosis, Timpf maintained her signature humor.

After receiving the diagnosis, Timpf learned from her doctors about the recommendation for a double mastectomy. “I asked all the questions I could, including if I could get a copy of my tumor ultrasound to put on the fridge next to the ultrasound of my baby,” she recalled, merging her serious health concerns with her euphoric anticipation of becoming a mother.

The labor experience itself was tumultuous yet transformative. Timpf described crawling on the floor of her apartment before rushing to the hospital. Once there, she gave birth to her son and later reflected on the overwhelming emotions of motherhood amid her health battle.

“Still, as I navigate new motherhood (and new cancer) I’m learning to celebrate everything I can. I’m lucky to have found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom,” she expressed, highlighting her gratitude and resilience.

Support poured in from friends, family, and colleagues who expressed admiration for Timpf’s strength during this challenging time. Greg Gutfeld, her fellow host, tweeted, “We’re all here for you Kat!” Also, Fox News host Lisa “Kennedy” Montgomery praised Timpf’s courage, stating, “You are amazing in every way. And you were heroic in labor... I love you.”

Meghan McCain also chimed in, calling Timpf “one of the strongest women I’ve ever known,” labeling her as someone whose bravery is inspiring to others. Such heartfelt words resonate as Timpf embarks on her unique and challenging new chapter as both a mother and someone facing breast cancer.

She concluded her social media post on a hopeful note: “Thank you all for your support, laughter, and love as I embrace this wildly unexpected chapter. Here’s to resilience, to miracles in the midst of chaos, and to finding humor and hope even on the toughest days.” Timpf’s ability to navigate these life-altering experiences with humor and gratitude provides inspiration to many who may face their own uncertainties.
