The Karelia Investigative Committee has launched an official inquiry following the dramatic seizure of documents related to alleged fraudulent activities involving land transactions. This investigation centers on Svetlana Velikodvorskaia, who is accused of committing significant fraud concerning the purchase of land at starkly undervalued prices.
According to reports, the case began around 2018 when Velikodvorskaia erected a modest structure on leased land situated within the Lahdenpohja administrative region. Understanding the precarious nature of her construction—deemed not to meet the criteria for capital construction—she reportedly collaborated with associates to fabricate misleading documentation. These phony plans served as the basis for the state registration of property ownership, allowing the elderly woman to acquire 15 hundredths of land for just 8,632 rubles, shockingly only 2.5% of its actual cadastral value, which was estimated at over 345,000 rubles.
The enormity of the deceit prompted the investigative body—the FSB of Karelia—to take action, leading to the seizure of relevant documents and conducting searches. The investigative team revealed the fraudulent practices employed by Velikodvorskaia soon after the details emerged, prompting intense scrutiny and subsequent criminal proceedings.
Notably, questions are being raised about the role of the cadastral engineer responsible for preparing the ownership documents for Velikodvorskaia. Following the investigation, this individual has faced charges and is currently under house arrest, as authorities aim to unravel the extent of the alleged fraud.
“Operational materials have led to the initiation of criminal proceedings based on significant fraud amounts,” stated representatives from the Karelia Investigative Committee, highlighting the seriousness of the charges at hand.
Given the scale of the fraudulent endeavor, it is now not only Velikodvorskaia facing legal repercussions but also her family. Her younger son, Vladimir Velikodvorskiy, has already been questioned as part of the investigative process, signaling deepening complications for the family as inquiries continue.
This incident not only sheds light on individual malpractices but also raises broader questions about oversight and regulatory measures governing land transactions. Local residents and observers are carefully monitoring how the case will evolve and what it signifies for policies surrounding land management and fraud prevention.
This chilling story serves as a reminder of the potential for deception within bureaucratic settings and the importance of due diligence by authorities. The investigation remains active, with expectations for charges to expand as more information surfaces and additional individuals possibly implicated.
The Karelia investigative saga continues to develop as authorities work diligently to piece together the full narrative of events and prevent similar occurrences from happening once again.
