Karachi Weather: Light Rains And Gusty Winds Expected

Pakistan Meteorological Department reports potential drizzle and temperature drops as winter transitions to spring.

KARACHI – The weather forecast for Karachi indicates light rains and gusty winds on Monday night and early Tuesday, as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). A strong westerly wave currently affects western parts of Pakistan, which will likely bring these weather changes to Karachi and its nearby regions.

According to the PMD, residents can expect partly cloudy weather with isolated light rains across various locations including Jacobabad, Qambar Shahdadkot, Ghotki, Kashmore and others late Monday night. Specific to Karachi, light drizzles are likely on Monday night, with cloud cover expected to linger over coastal areas of Sindh.

On Tuesday, the forecast predicts predominantly dry conditions across most of Sindh, but Karachi may experience more drizzle and partly cloudy weather. Forecasted minimum temperatures for Karachi will range between 17°C and 19°C on Tuesday and Wednesday, and between 18°C and 20°C on Thursday. Conversely, Hyderabad's minimum temperatures will hover between 16°C and 18°C for the same period, slightly warmer than Karachi.

The weather over the past 24 hours had been dry, particularly noted across Karachi, Hyderabad, and most districts within Sindh. Notably, Mohenjo-Daro and Mithi recorded the lowest temperatures at 12°C, indicating the variability of weather across the province.

Adding to the local weather dynamics, the PMD stated earlier today (Monday) characterized Karachi as having dry conditions with cloudy skies, though rain is not anticipated. The current situation shows the maximum temperature reaching up to 30°C, dropping to approximately 19°C overnight. Earlier, Karachi recorded minimum temperatures around 20°C, with visibility limited to just 2 kilometers due to persistent fog.

Wind conditions are expected to vary, with speeds ranging from 5 to 25 kilometers per hour. The preceding day’s weather noted Karachi experiencing maximum temperatures of up to 32.9°C. The cloud cover affecting the city is linked to a western weather system moving through Balochistan, showcasing how broad weather phenomena can impact local conditions.

The temperature monitoring at various times noted Karachi's recent minimum at 18°C and Hyderabad's at 17°C, alongside relative humidity readings of 49% and 47%, respectively, during the evening hours. These conditions highlight the typical fluctuations seen during this transitional period of late winter.

This fluctuational weather is quite common as Karachi transitions through the end of winter, leading to varying thermal comfort levels for its residents. The short-term forecasts prepare citizens for potentially drizzly nights and invigorate interest around upcoming weather changes. Keeping track of the PMD updates ensures residents are informed about the shifting climatic conditions and can plan accordingly.

Looking forward, Karachiites can expect the temperatures to remain relatively cooler, consistent with the patterns established as winter gives way to spring. Awareness about these shifting conditions, and how weather systems from surrounding regions can influence local climates, is pertinent for safety and comfort.

This report has traced the integral weather phenomena impacting Karachi and provided residents with the latest temperature outlooks and precipitation probabilities as they prepare for the week. By staying updated, Karachi's inhabitants can adjust their daily activities with respect to weather changes forecasted by the national meteorological authority.
