Kaizer Chiefs Move Closer To Historic DStv Diski Title

Chiefs need six points from final three games after 3-1 win

Kaizer Chiefs are now just six points away from clinching their historic DStv Diski Challenge title following a commanding 3-1 victory over Richards Bay FC on Saturday, April 19, 2025. The match, held at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto, showcased the strength of the Vela Khumalo-coached side as they took a significant step towards their first DDC championship.

The Glamour Boys started the game with intensity, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. Imaad Hendricks opened the scoring, followed by a goal from striker Naledi Hlongwane, who has been pivotal in the team’s attacking play this season. Despite a spirited response from Richards Bay, who managed to pull one back after the interval, the Chiefs proved too strong, sealing their victory with a third goal from Neo Bohloko in the 69th minute.

With this latest win, Kaizer Chiefs now sit atop the DDC table with 61 points after 25 matches, one point ahead of second-placed Stellenbosch FC. The defending champions from the previous two seasons, Stellenbosch, kept their title hopes alive with a solid 2-0 victory over AmaZulu FC on the same day, thanks to goals from Cheswyn Philander and Jeandre Gafoor.

As the title race heats up, Chiefs need just six points from their final three games to be crowned champions for the first time in the club’s history. Their next matches will be crucial as they aim to maintain their impressive form leading up to the final day of the season on May 4, 2025.

Golden Arrows also enjoyed a successful outing, securing a 2-1 win over Polokwane City. The KwaZulu-Natal side took the lead through Sfundo Shezi, regained their advantage with a goal from Lindani Ndelu after being pegged back, and held on for the win.

Meanwhile, Chippa United and Magesi FC played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, with both teams showing resilience in a fiercely contested battle. This result marked a welcome end to Chippa’s six-match losing streak, while Magesi continues to search for consistency.

On Sunday, April 20, 2025, Marumo Gallants delivered a stunning performance, hammering SuperSport United 6-2 at Dr. Molemela Stadium. The defeat left SuperSport struggling to find form, while Gallants celebrated a remarkable victory.

In the final match of the weekend, Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City played to a goalless draw, marking a third successive stalemate for the Citizens. Sekhukhune remains within the top-half standings, but both teams will be eager to improve their form as the season progresses.
