K73 Unit Resumes Mission To Recover Fallen Soldiers' Remains

Efforts focus on Cambodia as the team aims to retrieve more soldiers' remains during the dry season.

The K73 Unit, tasked with the recovery of fallen soldiers' remains, has made significant strides during the first phase of their mission for the 2024-2025 dry season.

Under the leadership of Phạm Tấn Hòa, Vice Chairman of Long An Province, the team successfully recovered the remains of 50 soldiers from areas within Cambodia. From February 24 to June 26, 2025, the K73 Unit will focus on recovering more remains from Svay Rieng, Battambang, and Pailin.

"The K73 Unit has effectively organized the recovery of remains of 50 fallen soldiers," stated Hòa during the mission briefing. The unit is gearing up for more missions following their initial success. The K73 team has already received over 70 reports concerning burial sites, anticipating they will recover approximately 50 additional sets of remains.

Phạm Tấn Hòa emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and legal compliance throughout the recovery process, noting, "We must maintain discipline and comply with the laws of Cambodia to guarantee our safety." The responsibilities of the K73 Unit also include engaging with local authorities to facilitate the recovery efforts and ensuring adherence to applicable laws.

Hòa reiterated the need for the team to communicate effectively with local government and community members, saying, "Through our efforts, we aim to inform and encourage local populations to provide information about burial sites of Vietnamese soldiers who perished during the wars." The importance of supporting the local community is highlighted through their commitment to compensatory measures for any land or crops impacted during their operations.

On the same day, Hòa led various representatives and team members of the K73 Unit to pay respects during a solemn ceremony at the Tan Hung Martyrs Cemetery. The gathering included laying wreaths, lighting incense, and observing a minute of silence to honor the contributions of heroes and martyrs who fought for independence and freedom. Hòa remarked, "A minute of silence to honor the contributions of heroes and martyrs who fought for independence and freedom of the nation."

The K73 Unit's efforts reflect not only resolve and dedication to recovering fallen soldiers but also to maintaining positive relationships with Cambodian authorities and the communities they engage with, fostering goodwill as they continue their important work.
