Julián Quiñones Scores Again But Al Qadisiya Falls 4-1

Despite another goal from Quiñones, Al Qadisiya suffers defeat and drops to fourth place.

Julián Quiñones may have scored yet again, but it wasn't enough to prevent his team, Al Qadisiya, from suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat against Al Ahli Saudi on February 25, 2025. This loss marked the team’s first defeat since January, as they fell short at their home ground during the Saudi Pro League match.

Quiñones, who has quickly made headlines with his goal-scoring abilities, netted his 15th goal of the season just minutes after halftime. The Mexican forward capitalized on a loose ball within the six-yard box, nudging it home to score at the 48th minute. Despite his efforts, the night belonged to Al Ahli, who had already established dominance by halftime.

The match started poorly for Al Qadisiya when Ivan Toney converted a penalty kick just 11 minutes after the match began, putting the hosts on the board early. Mohammed Sulaiman followed up with another goal at the 27-minute mark, and just before halftime, former Real Madrid player Nacho Fernández inadvertently added to Al Ahli's lead with an own goal.

By the time Quiñones found the net, the scoreboard read 3-0, establishing the uphill battle Al Qadisiya faced. Just four minutes after Quiñones' goal, Al Ahli added insult to injury when Toney scored another penalty, sealing the deal at 4-1.

Although Al Qadisiya could not maintain their winning streak, Quiñones has continued to shine individually, now on the tail of league leaders Cristiano Ronaldo, who leads with 17 goals, and Karim Benzema with 16. Quiñones is only two goals shy of Ronaldo and one behind Benzema.

This latest outing brings Quiñones' tally to six goals over his last five games. His determination and skill have not gone unnoticed, with management continuing to place trust in him. His future games will be pivotal for both his career and Al Qadisiya’s aspirations.

Al Qadisiya are currently positioned fourth on the league table, holding 47 points after 15 wins, two draws, and five losses. The team will be eager to rebound as they face Al Riyadh on Sunday, March 2, 2025, and later come up against the formidable leaders, Al Ittihad, featuring Benzema.

Despite the setback against Al Ahli, Quiñones remains optimistic and looks forward to the challenges of future matches. "With each game, the drive to score and improve only grows," said Quiñones, reflecting on his recent performances. Fans are hopeful for Al Qadisiya to reclaim their form and continue their pursuit for the Saudi Pro League title.
