A U.S. district judge has temporarily put the brakes on the highly anticipated Venu Sports streaming service, originally set to launch soon. This decision came after FuboTV filed for and was granted a preliminary injunction against the joint venture of ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Judge Margaret M. Garnett, presiding over the case, pointed out the potential antitrust concerns associated with the joint venture, emphasizing the likelihood of FuboTV succeeding in their claims against the current proposal. She stated, "Fubo and consumers would face irreparable harm in the absence of an injunction," underscoring the gravity of the issue.
The court battle commenced two weeks after the media giants unveiled plans for their sports streaming service back in February.
