A federal judge has ruled allowing a woman, who accuses Sean "Diddy" Combs and Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter of raping her when she was just 13 years old, to proceed anonymously with her lawsuit for the time being. The decision, announced by U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres, permits the woman to maintain her anonymity at this early stage of the litigation, citing the sensitive nature of the allegations and the potential harm disclosure could cause her mental health.
The anonymous lawsuit, filed initially by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, details alleged events from 2000 when the plaintiff, known as “Jane Doe,” claims she was assaulted at an after-party following the MTV Video Music Awards. She alleges she traveled to New York City from her hometown of Rochester, where she befriended a limousine driver who took her to the party, during which Diddy and Jay-Z allegedly attacked her. The lawsuit was filed last October and later amended to include Jay-Z.
