Starting from February 14, 2025, this pass allows holders to enjoy unlimited travel on ordinary trains within the ICOCA area for 30 consecutive days, alongside exclusive coupons for participating establishments.
The ICOCA Unlimited Pass is set to revolutionize the way passengers navigate their journeys. It grants riders access to ordinary carriages of trains—including special rapid and rapid trains—without the need for individual tickets per ride. Notably, the pass excludes routes from the Nanao Line and the Jōhankan Line. The method of purchasing this pass is streamlined for convenience—tickets must be acquired through the KANSAI MaaS application, which exclusively offers these passes during the sales period from February 14 to March 12. During this period, it is important for users to prepare by linking their ICOCA cards—such as SMART ICOCA or Mobile ICOCA via Apple Pay—to their KANSAI MaaS accounts. Notably, there's also the requirement to complete registration for the WESTER points system through JR West’s ticket vending machines prior to use.
Once the ticket purchase is finalized and the holder is set to commence their travels, there’s another straightforward step: on the starting day, the pass holder simply taps the "use ticket" option within the KANSAI MaaS app to activate the ICOCA Unlimited Pass ticket. For smooth access through automatic ticket barriers, users should charge their linked ICOCA cards beforehand. The passage through these barriers results in fare deductions from the card’s balance, making it highly practical for users. Remarkably, the system ensures rewarded points returned to travelers, as on the last day of the usage month, the fare charged during travel is fully refunded as WESTER points, which can be used for future purchases.
