Joe Keery Stars In Sci-Fi Comedy Cold Storage

Samuel Goldwyn Films acquires rights for wide release of Cold Storage this year

Samuel Goldwyn Films has officially acquired the North American rights to the upcoming sci-fi comedy Cold Storage, which stars Joe Keery, known for his role in Stranger Things, alongside Georgina Campbell, Sosie Bacon, Vanessa Redgrave, Lesley Manville, and Liam Neeson. The film is set for a wide theatrical release later this year, promising to deliver a unique blend of humor and horror.

Directed by Jonny Campbell, who is recognized for his work on Dracula, Cold Storage is based on a novel by David Koepp, who also penned the screenplay. Koepp is renowned for his contributions to iconic films such as Jurassic Park and Mission: Impossible. The film is produced by Gavin Polone, known for his work on Zombieland and Panic Room, alongside Koepp.

The plot centers around two young employees at a self-storage facility built on the site of an old U.S. military base. Travis Teacake, played by Keery, and Naomi Williams, portrayed by Campbell, find themselves in a nightmarish situation when a parasitic fungus escapes from the depths of the base where it had been sealed by the government decades earlier. As temperatures rise underground, this highly contagious microorganism begins to multiply, unleashing its brain-controlling, body-bursting terrors on the facility's inhabitants.

With time running out and chaos ensuing, Teacake and Naomi must team up with Robert Quinn, a grizzled retired bioterror operative played by Neeson, to contain the lethal threat and prevent a potential extinction event for humanity.

“We’re happy to continue our relationship with Studiocanal and excited to be handling this thrilling movie from David Koepp, Jonny Campbell, and Gavin Polone,” stated Peter Goldwyn, President of Samuel Goldwyn Films, along with CEO Ben Feingold. The acquisition deal was negotiated by Miles Fineburg from Samuel Goldwyn Films and Chloe Marquet, Head of International Sales, along with Charlotte Lopez and Sophie Leuthreau from Studiocanal.

Samuel Goldwyn Films is known for its commitment to innovative feature films and has a reputation for distributing critically acclaimed works. The company previously distributed the Academy Award®-winning film Another Round and has a lineup of recent releases including Outlaw Johnny Black and In the Land of Saints and Sinners, both starring Liam Neeson.

Meanwhile, Studiocanal is one of Europe’s leading film and series studios, operating directly in nine major European markets and producing over 80 films per year. With a catalogue that boasts more than 9,400 titles from 60 countries, Studiocanal is a major player in the international film industry.
