Jodie Comer, the acclaimed actress known for her roles in Killing Eve and The Help, is set to reprise her Olivier and Tony Award-winning performance in Suzie Miller’s celebrated one-person play Prima Facie. This is being billed as her "one last time" acting stint with the production before it embarks on a UK and Ireland tour starting January 2026.
The gripping play revolves around Tessa, portrayed by Comer, who navigates the patriarchal structures embedded within the law as she faces unexpected events challenging her moral compass. It poignantly explores the intersection of gender dynamics and the judicial system, forcing audiences to confront the difficult truths surrounding sexual assault.
With the tour kicking off at Richmond Theatre on January 23, 2026, it will continue through prominent venues including Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre, Edinburgh’s Royal Lyceum, Cardiff’s New Theatre, and conclude at Liverpool Playhouse from March 17 to March 21, 2026.
"It is a huge privilege to return to Prima Facie for one last time and take this important play on tour across the UK and Ireland," announced Comer. "The resonance of Suzie Miller’s writing, both in London and New York, exceeded anything we could have imagined. I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to get the team back together and take the production to theatres around the country, including my hometown of Liverpool. On a personal note, I can’t think of a more fitting finale to what has been such an incredible and deeply rewarding chapter in my life."
Comer's comments reflect the widespread acclaim the play has garnered since its debut, especially during its West End run and subsequent Broadway showing. The production not only won Comer prestigious awards but also received the Olivier for Best New Play, underscoring its impact within theatrical circles.
Justin Martin, the Olivier Award-winning director of Prima Facie, leads the team bringing the production to life again. The creative crew includes composer Rebecca Lucy Taylor, renowned for her work as Self Esteem, alongside set and costume designer Miriam Buether, lighting designer Natasha Chivers, and sound designers Max and Ben Ringham.
Notably, partnerships with charities such as the Schools Consent Project and Everyone’s Invited continue through the tour, enhancing the conversation around consent and helping to create safe spaces for sharing experiences. These partnerships have allowed the themes of the play to resonate beyond the stage, as they aim for broader societal impact.
Comer stated, "I couldn’t be more thrilled about the Prima Facie 2026 tour; this play has already achieved more than we all could have dreamed, and Jodie’s commitment to the story reaching so many new venues and communities means more people can be part of the conversation and the solution."
The play has also stemmed initiatives to train judiciary members in Northern Ireland, where attendance is now mandatory for newly appointed judges, illustrating how Prima Facie aims to influence real-world settings and legal discussions.
Tickets for the eagerly anticipated tour will go on sale starting March 25, 2025, and considering the show's previous box office success during its initial runs, it’s expected to sell out quickly.
