The Jenkins family recently mourned the loss of several beloved members, showcasing their enduring legacy through love and contributions to their communities. Each individual left behind cherished memories, and their lives will be celebrated by family and friends.
First among them is June Jenkins, who passed away at the age of 83 on February 21, 2025. June was born on June 5, 1941, and resided in Coalfield, Tennessee. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, February 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow led by Bro. Jamie Basler. A graveside service will take place the next day at Western Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., where her family will gather to commemorate her life.
Another notable loss for the Jenkins family is U.S. Veteran Harry Lee Jenkins, Jr., who battled cancer with remarkable courage until his passing on the same day as June's. Born on March 22, 1955, in Savannah, Georgia, Harry spent over two decades serving in the Army National Guard and later worked for the City of Savannah’s Building Maintenance Department, retiring after more than 20 years of service. He adored fishing, camping, and cherished time spent with his family—particularly his daughters, whom he delightedly referred to as 'his girls.'
Harry was predeceased by significant members of his family, including his mother, Ruby Sikes, father, Harry L. Jenkins, Sr., and daughter, Melissa I. Jenkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Robin R. Jenkins, daughters Brandi Boutwell, Shelby Trey, Shakeria Robinson, and Danielle Weller, as well as numerous grandchildren and siblings. The family will hold visitation on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by memorial services at 11:00 a.m., including military honors to honor Harry's service.
Edna Sullivan Jenkins, 79, also departed on February 21, having peacefully passed at Lighthouse Assisted Living and Memory Care. She was born on December 22, 1945, and grew up in Webb, Mississippi, graduating from West Tallahatchie High School. Edna married Zack Jenkins, forging a loving partnership lasting nearly six decades. She was not only a devoted wife and mother but also made notable contributions through her service at First Baptist Church of Sumner, where she led several committees and taught Sunday school.
After retiring from Mississippi Power and Light (now Entergy), Edna returned to work at Regions Bank, relishing the chance to interact with her community. Her vibrant personality and love for gardening were hallmarks of her life. Edna is survived by her daughter, Allison Jenkins Jones, and son, Wiley Z. Jenkins II, along with three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A visitation will take place at Meredith Nowell Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on February 26, followed by the graveside service at Jenkins-Pennington Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on February 27.
Each of these Jenkins family members leaves behind not only deep family connections but also imprint on their respective communities. While their passing has left a significant void, the memories, love, and teachings they shared will carry on through their loved ones.
