The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the results of JEE (Main) 2025 Session 2 for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), revealing that 24 candidates achieved a perfect 100 percentile score. Among these top scorers, Rajasthan, known as India's coaching hub, produced the highest number, with seven candidates reaching the pinnacle of success. Female students Devdutta Majhi from West Bengal and Sai Manogna Guthikonda from Andhra Pradesh also stood out among the elite group.
The examination took place in April 2025, spanning nine shifts across 531 centres located in 300 cities, including 15 international locations. Out of 10,61,840 students who registered for this session, 9,92,350 appeared for the exam, underscoring the competitive nature of this crucial engineering entrance test.
However, the results were not without controversy. The NTA withheld the results of 110 candidates who were found to have employed unfair means, including the use of forged documents and impersonation. Additionally, 23 more students had their results put on hold due to discrepancies in personal details, such as mismatched photographs and biometric data. These students have been instructed to submit proof of identity, duly attested by a gazetted officer, to verify their records and enable the declaration of their results.
To ensure the integrity of the examination process, the NTA implemented a multi-layered security system. This included biometric verification, AI-based video analytics, and live CCTV surveillance at all examination centres. Furthermore, 5G jammers were installed to thwart any potential digital malpractice. According to the official press release, pre-examination audits were conducted by third-party agencies at newly established centres, and over 1,100 examination functionaries and stakeholders received training beforehand. A central control room in New Delhi monitored all examination centres in real-time to detect and prevent suspicious activities.
The NTA reported that during the first session of the JEE (Main) examination in January 2025, 39 candidates were found guilty of unfair means. The number of candidates facing similar charges rose significantly in Session 2, with 110 candidates flagged for misconduct. This brings the total number of candidates under suspicion across both sessions to 149.
Emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy towards cheating and malpractice, the NTA stated that the withheld results would not be released unless the candidates satisfactorily proved their identity and resolved all discrepancies. The agency has urged all candidates to adhere strictly to the rules and guidelines set forth, which were communicated in advance through detailed advisories regarding the importance of correct identity proof, biometric verification, and ethical conduct.
Parents and students are encouraged to cooperate with authorities and refrain from using unethical means to secure admission into prestigious institutions. Candidates whose results are withheld are advised to contact the NTA promptly with the necessary documentation for further processing.
In addition to the results for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), the NTA clarified that the scores for Paper 2A (B.Arch.) and 2B (B.Planning) for JEE (Main) – 2025 Session 2 would be issued separately. The NTA also highlighted that the scores it provides are not equivalent to the percentage of marks obtained but are normalized scores based on the relative performance of all candidates who appeared for the examination in one session.
As the JEE (Main) serves as a gateway for students aspiring to gain admission to the 23 premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the stakes are high. The examination was conducted in 13 languages, catering to a diverse range of candidates across the country.
With the results now announced, the focus shifts to the next steps in the admission process. Candidates who performed well will be shortlisted to appear for the JEE (Advanced), which is the next crucial hurdle in securing a place at one of the esteemed IITs.
