Japanese Railway Stations Host Exciting Promotions

Abeno Harukas and Don Quijote feature unique sales and pop-up events this January.

A thrilling wave of events and promotions is set to captivate shoppers at Japanese railway stations this January, starting with the popular clearance sales and food bargains at Abeno Harukas.

Beginning on January 7, 2025, the Abeno Harukas Kintetsu department store in Osaka launched its highly anticipated "Gift Product Clearance Sale and Food Bargain" event. Located on the 9th floor of the Wing Building, this event is aimed at showcasing products such as coffee, canned goods, and various seasonings at attractive prices. The sale features booths selling long-lasting items like freeze-dried foods, retort curry, canned drinks, and more.

On the first day of the event, shoppers eagerly flocked to the booths as soon as the doors opened, eager to snag deals on gift items. Throughout the event’s duration, customers can look forward to additional special promotions, including food manufacturer sampling events on January 9 and 10, and a special sale of rare delicacies from "Maruesu" from January 10 to 12. Notably, on January 13, patrons can participate in the "Amano Foods" freeze-dried miso soup fill-up event for just 1,080 yen per fill. The event runs daily from 10 AM to 8 PM, concluding on January 15, making it a must-visit for savvy shoppers.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, another exciting event is set to kick off. According to Yoshiko Takahashi, the representative from Oshicoco, the company specializing in supporting 'oshi-katsu' (enthusiast activities), they will be hosting the "Oshicoco Oshi-katsu Popup" event at Don Quijote Kintetsu Passe Store starting January 11, 2025.

This pop-up aims to engage fans of otaku culture by offering various themed merchandise, including the ever-popular "name keyrings," trading card cases, collectable books, and plush clothing. The event is framed around the company mascot, Donpen, ensuring it resonates well with the local community. Oshicoco’s offerings promise not just essentials for enthusiasts but also sparkling cute products ideal for the new year celebrations. "Our 'Oshi favorite charm keychain' will be available in all colors, making it perfect for kicking off the 'oshi-katsu' activities this new year," Takahashi added.

Operating hours for the Don Quijote event are set from 10 AM to 8 PM, running indefinitely until later notice. Company representatives express optimism about the popularity of the products, which have found significant traction among their customer base, particularly within the community fond of collectible goods.

These events signal more than just sales; they represent strategic efforts to engage local communities, attract customers during the new shopping season, and invigorate business post-holidays. By offering unique events and merchandise aligned with current trends, retailers like Abeno Harukas and Don Quijote are poised to capitalize on the celebratory spirit of the New Year.

With such lively events drawing shoppers to railway stations across Japan, the coming weeks will surely bring excitement and fresh opportunities for buying delightful bargains and special merchandise. Shoppers eagerly await, primed to explore the vibrant offerings!
