Japan Braces For Warm Weekend Weather Across Regions

As temperatures rise, residents prepare for allergy season amid cherry blossom blooms.

The weekend weather forecast for Japan is set to bring a wave of warmth across the country as temperatures rise significantly. According to meteorologists, the shift from cold to warm weather began on March 21, 2025, marking a pleasant transition for many.

On this date, the lowest recorded temperatures dropped below freezing in mountainous areas, with regions like Mishima and Matsuzaki documenting morning temperatures of around 1°C. Meanwhile, coastal regions such as Hamamatsu, Makinohara, and Kikugawa experienced slightly warmer conditions ranging around 2°C. A notable rise in temperature was observed during the day, with Shimizu reaching a high of 20.2°C and other areas in Shizuoka hovering around the 19°C mark.

As residents prepare for the weekend of March 22nd and 23rd, 2025, forecasts indicate stable and sunny weather without the threat of rain or snow. According to local reports, the warm air mass will envelop various regions, providing an ideal environment for outdoor activities.

The weekend promises to elevate the daytime temperatures even further. On March 23rd, areas such as Hamamatsu, Mishima, Yaizu, and Kawanehoncho are expected to see highs of 23°C, while Shizuoka could even reach 25°C, suggesting a possible summer-like day. It’s a stark contrast to the chilly mornings, which are predicted to ease over the weekend, allowing for more comfortable temperatures.

However, meteorologists also issued a warning regarding high pollen levels accompanying the warm weather. Pollen counts are predicted to reach “extremely high” on March 22nd and “very high” on March 23rd, prompting health officials to advise residents to take precautions against allergies.

Adding to the weekend's weather elements, yellow sand is forecasted to drift in on March 23rd, potentially exacerbating allergy symptoms for individuals sensitive to pollen. Such environmental factors mean that while the weather seems inviting, those afflicted by allergies must remain vigilant in managing their symptoms.

The cherry blossom season is also making headway, with early signs of blooming noted at the Shizuoka Meteorological Observatory. Observations indicate that the Someiyoshino cherry blossoms are beginning to show pink—a significant indicator of spring in Japan. While previous years have seen blooms around March 24th, this year’s predictions suggest a delay, with the first flowers likely emerging around March 25th, 2025. Full bloom is expected to occur about a week to ten days later, likely coinciding with early April.

As for the week following the weekend, there is a mix of weather forecast. Rain is anticipated on March 24th and again on March 27th and 28th. Temperatures are expected to remain mild, aligning with the warmth typical of May. However, a return to average temperatures is forecasted post-March 29th.

For those preparing for the transition from winter wear, it may be the right time to start altering wardrobes. Nevertheless, it’s advisable to keep some warmer clothing on hand, as the weather pattern may shift back to standard March conditions.

As excitement builds for the upcoming warm days, the latest weather forecasts underscore the beauty of seasonal transitions in Japan. With cherry blossoms soon to accompany bright days, it could be an ideal time for families and friends to gather outdoors and enjoy nature’s beauty while managing allergy precautions to make the most of this vibrant season.
