January 2025 PlayStation Plus Games Announced

New titles and departing favorites mark the start of 2025 for Sony's subscription service.

PlayStation Plus is kicking off 2025 with exciting updates, including new game offerings across its Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers. With fresh titles set to arrive and several beloved games on the exit list, subscribers have plenty to look forward to.

The announcement for January’s Essential tier games will arrive on January 1, 2025, with availability for download starting on January 7, 2025. Following this, updates for the Extra and Premium tiers will come on January 15, 2025, with these games ready to play from January 21, 2025.

While the official list is yet to be confirmed, predictions from gaming outlets suggest some exciting additions. Among them, The Outlast Trials is likely to be included. Set during the Cold War, this horror experience puts players through terrifying trials orchestrated by the sinister Murkoff Corporation. Players must navigate through dread-filled environments, testing their morals and sanity along the way. This should be ideal for fans of survival horror.

Another anticipated title is Jusant, which promises players a serene yet challenging climbing adventure. For those less inclined toward horror, this puzzle-solving experience focuses on exploration and features various environments filled with secrets from the tower’s history. Then there’s Horizon Chase 2, which brings the thrill of arcade racing back to the forefront.

"Free PlayStation Plus titles will be available every month, offering varied genres and experiences for subscribers," said True Trophies. With this commitment from Sony, players can expect to enjoy gripping narratives and diverse gameplay.

While new games arrive, others will inevitably depart. Essential subscribers should note the following titles leaving the service: It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent, and TemTem will cease to be available after January 6, 2025. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 2, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and multiple Life is Strange titles will bid farewell on January 14, 2025. To maintain access to these titles, players must claim them before the respective deadlines.

The PS Plus Premium tier is not to be outdone, as it introduces what may be one of its most exciting features—a 10-hour trial of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. This game presents players with turn-based combat and expansive storylines, offering ample gameplay to explore the title’s mechanics. Unlike many of its predecessors, this trial is significant enough to let players experience the depth of the game without withholding any key content. With the full game averaging over 55 hours to complete, the trial offers invaluable insight for prospective players.

Launched to positive reviews, Infinite Wealth currently holds an impressive average score of 89/100 on Metacritic for its PS5 version, signifying its appeal among gamers. The trial will allow players to seamlessly carry over any save data and trophy progress if they later purchase the game, adding to its accessibility.

PS Plus continues to refresh its offerings, ensuring subscribers can access various game genres and experiences. While some games leave the catalog, the anticipation of what's to come keeps the gaming community engaged and excited.

With the holidays behind us, January 2025’s PS Plus lineup promises something for everyone, whether you’re seeking to test your limits with horror, take on engrossing climbing puzzles, or revel in arcade racing nostalgia. Subscribers are encouraged to indulge and enjoy the diverse offerings available, ensuring they make the most of their gaming experience.
