Jack Fincham Sentenced To Six Weeks For Dog Attack

The Love Island winner faces serious legal consequences following incidents involving his Cane Corso, Elvis.

Love Island star Jack Fincham has been sentenced to six weeks in prison for dangerous dog offenses following two incidents involving his black Cane Corso, named Elvis. The 33-year-old reality television personality, who gained fame after winning the ITV2 show with Dani Dyer, pleaded guilty to charges at Southend-on-Sea Magistrates’ Court on January 29, 2025.

The events surrounding Fincham's legal troubles began when his pet attacked runner Robert Sudell during September 2022 in Swanley, Kent. Prosecutor Erin Peck detailed how Sudell was injured, though he initially accepted Fincham's apology. Fincham was originally offered the chance to participate in a responsible dog ownership course and was cautioned, but subsequent events led to more significant legal repercussions.

Fincham was found to have violated terms set by the court after failing to comply with three stipulated conditions: keeping the dog on a lead, ensuring it was muzzled when outside, and refraining from leaving the dog alone with individuals under the age of 16. Evidence was presented indicating another incident occurred, this time involving Elvis grabbing the calf of another victim without causing injury.

During the court proceedings, Fincham was seen giving a thumbs up as he was led to the cells, showing little visible remorse, which contrasted sharply with the emotional response of his girlfriend Chloe Brockett. The TOWIE star broke down in tears upon receiving the news of his jail sentence. Present alongside him were family members supporting Fincham as the verdict was read. They had recently enjoyed a luxury getaway at Champneys Spa, just days before the court date.

Fincham's legal troubles don't stop at the dog incident. He was already serving a suspended sentence stemming from prior convictions for drug-driving and other related offenses. This history influenced the magistrate's decision to impose prison time, as Anne Wade noted, 'we find no reason not to do so' when handing down the sentence.

The sentence also included financial penalties, totaling £3,680. This amount comprises £2,000 designated for kenneling costs, £961 as a fine, and £200 to compensate Mr. Sudell for his injuries. Due to his financial situation—indicated by his lawyer Richard Cooper, who stated Fincham has no savings—a payment plan was established to allow him to pay off his debt at £400 per month following his release.

The Cane Corso breed, to which Elvis belongs, has attracted scrutiny as its popularity has surged, especially after the UK government's ban on XL Bullies. Critics have expressed concerns about the breed's handling and safety, particularly when individual owners fail to meet regulatory responsibilities.

Further complicate matters, Fincham has faced criticism for acquiring Elvis from Russia, where ear cropping is legal, yet banned under UK law. Animal rights groups, including PETA, have condemned such practices and urged Fincham to speak out against animal cruelty. Despite this backlash, Fincham has publicly defended his ownership of the breed.

Since his rise to fame after winning Love Island, Fincham's personal life has been tumultuous, marked by his on-and-off relationship with Brockett. The pair have had many ups and downs since they began dating, but they appeared to enjoy their time together at the spa prior to the sentencing.

After learning of Fincham's current legal issues, it is clear he may still have some challenges to overcome, both legally and personally. According to the court orders, Fincham will only retrieve Elvis if he adheres to strict conditions following his release. The court mandated the dog must be muzzled when outside, kept on its lead, and cannot be left alone with minors. These conditions are aimed at promoting responsible dog ownership and ensuring public safety.

While Fincham attempts to navigate this difficult chapter, it remains to be seen how it will affect his public persona and relationship with Brockett. The couple has been the subject of public intrigue, with their relationship status frequently changing. The emotional turmoil seen during the court proceedings might affect their future together, as Brockett’s tears highlighted the gravity of the situation.

Jack Fincham's imprisonment casts yet another shadow over the former reality star's earlier life as he contends with both personal and legal ramifications of his actions, particularly pertaining to his pet's behavior. For now, Fincham's future remains uncertain as he grapples with the consequences of his past decisions.
