Italy Extends Deadlines For Maternity Allowances And Business Filings

New regulations provide relief for new parents and ease business pressures amid economic changes.

The Italian government has announced important updates concerning the deadlines for applications for maternity allowances and company filings, providing necessary relief for new parents and businesses alike.

According to the Comune di Palermo, individuals can now submit their applications for the maternity allowance for the year 2025. This allowance, available under Article 74 of Legislative Decree 151/2001, aims to support mothers who do not receive sufficient financial benefits for maternity. It is important to note, the maternity allowance requests must be completed using the proper forms, which can be obtained from the Ufficio di Segretariato Sociale located at Via Garibaldi, ex caserma La Masa, with relevant contact numbers provided for assistance.

To qualify for the maternity allowance, women must submit their applications within six months following the birth of their child. Specifically, those recipients should not be benefitting from any other maternity payment or should be receiving less than the allowance amount. The application can also be made for each child placed under adoption or pre-adoptive custody, with the six-month countdown beginning from the date the child enters the applicant's household.

Eligibility criteria include conditions such as Italian or community citizenship, or for non-EU citizens, the possession of residency permits. Applicants must reside within Italy at the time of childbirth and provide adequate proof of their family's income via the current ISEE indicator. The application process also mandates women to certify they have not previously applied for the maternity allowance for the same child.

"Le istanze di concessione degli assegni di maternità... dovranno pervenire entro il termine perentorio di 6 mesi dalla nascita del figlio," as stated by the officials at the Comune di Palermo. This clear guideline emphasizes the necessity of adhering to strict timelines for filing.

On another front, Portobello, listed on the Euronext Growth Milan and active within the barter and retail sector, has announced flexible filing deadlines under the regulations of Article 40 of the Corporate Crisis and Insolvency Code (CCII). The filing of applications by Portobello S.p.A. and its retail branch PB Retail S.r.l. is now set to expire on April 7, 2025, granting them additional time due to the extension of 60 days issued from February 4, 2025, following the initial ruling made on December 4, 2024.

According to Teleborsa, "i termini relativi al deposito della domanda ex art. 40 CCII... scadono in data 7 aprile 2025." This extension is significant since it allows the companies to reorganize and manage their affairs effectively within these added timeframes.

These modifications reflect the Italian government's commitment to providing needed support for families and stabilizing business operations during challenging economic periods. With the new deadlines and criteria now established, both individuals and businesses are encouraged to act swiftly to secure their respective benefits.
