Italian television platforms are gearing up for the festive season with significant programming changes scheduled for December 2024. Major networks like Mediaset, Prime Video, and Sky have adjusted their schedules to create holiday-specific content, ensuring viewers have diverse options for entertainment during the most wonderful time of the year.
Mediaset is known for its dedication to maintaining classic soap operas, and this Christmas season is no different. Iconic American soap opera "Beautiful" will continue to broadcast daily from Monday to Saturday, offering fans uninterrupted access to the latest family drama of the Forrester family. On the other hand, the popular series "Endless Love" will see dramatic changes this season. It will now be aired solely during the weekend with reduced episode counts, marking a significant shift for its viewers.
Further enriching the holiday lineup, Mediaset plans to fortify the airing of "My Home My Destiny 2" on Canale 5. Viewers can expect longer episodes airing during the weekdays from 14:30 to 16:00, coupled with weekend episodes. During Christmas on December 25-26, "La Promessa" will fill prime time slots to entertain audiences with exciting tales. Other soap operas such as "Tempesta d’Amore" will face slight delays but will maintain their usual programming intervals without excessive cuts.
Notably, streaming service Prime Video is also joining the festive cheer. Beginning December 16, it will broaden its offering with many previously unavailable series available for purchase, featuring hot titles like "House of the Dragon" and "Yellowstone." Marco Azzani, Country Managing Director of Prime Video Italia, emphasized the expansion as part of their commitment to providing diverse entertainment options for their subscribers and clients across Italy, France, and Spain.
Meanwhile, Sky continues to excite its audience with noteworthy releases. The highly anticipated continuation of "Outlander" begins airing on December 14, followed closely by the final part of "Yellowstone" debuting on December 20. Many classics from the Sky's catalog will air, including children's animation specials, such as "Kung Fu Panda 4," launching on January 4.
This holiday season, Sky Cinema is rolling out its tradition of showcasing Christmas films, presenting over 50 titles throughout December to cater to various audiences. Among the highlights is the theatrical Christmas premiere of "Wonka" on December 25. Other notable films include beloved classics to warm holiday spirits, from family animations to romantic comedies.
Sky will also offer unique documentary specials to mark the festive period. Premiering on December 25, “Diana: morte di una principessa” investigates the uncertainty surrounding Princess Diana's tragic death, offering viewers exclusive insights and raising questions about the events of the fateful night.
With such diverse programming planned for the holiday season, viewers can look forward to spending quality time with family and friends around their screens. This December is filled with irresistible entertainment options, offering everything from beloved soap operas to exciting documentary specials and captivating films, ensuring the holiday spirit is alive and well on Italian television.
