Italian Book Events Explore Feminism And Storytelling

From feminist thought to digital advancements, upcoming presentations celebrate literary contributions.

Upcoming literary events across Italy promise to engage readers and scholars alike this February and March 2025. These presentations will showcase significant contributions to the fields of feminist literature, digital storytelling, and medieval history, offering new insights and discussions relevant to all.

On February 24 at 5:00 PM, the Biblioteca dei Bottini dell’Olio located in Piazza del Luogo Pio will host the presentation of Il corpo delle pagine. Scrittura e vita in Carla Lonzi by Linda Bertelli and Marta Equi Pierazzini. This book explores the intertwined nature of writing and the life of Carla Lonzi, an influential figure within radical feminist thought. Reported by L'Osservatore, the work reveals, "Il volume esplora il legame tra la scrittura e la vita di Carla Lonzi, figura chiave del pensiero femminista radicale."

The authors will share how years of research and archival work culminated in this volume, offering fresh interpretations and featuring never-before-seen documents, texts, and images. The presentation will include contributions from noted scholars such as Sandra Burchi and Anastasia Barone, who will discuss Lonzi's legacy and her relevance today.

Later on February 24, at 6:00 PM, Matilde De Feo will lead another exciting discussion at the Mondadori Store The Spark Creative Hub located on via degli Acquari, Napoli. She presents her ambitious manual, Digital Storytelling e racconto non lineare. This event will discuss how stories evolve through new technologies, making them accessible to both professionals and curious onlookers. De Feo remarked, "Il volume è un manuale per addetti ai lavori, ma anche un libro per tutti, curiosi o interessati," illustrating its approachability.

Joining De Feo will be various academic experts including Adolfo Fattori, Anna Maria Monteverdi, and Lucia Bergamaschi who will contribute to the discussion, examining contemporary storytelling's shifting formations between video, theater, and interactivity.

On March 1 at 5:00 PM, book lovers can look forward to the presentation of Storia di_Ascoli. Il Medioevo at the Palazzo dei Capitani of Firenze. Curators Roberto Lambertini, Giuliano Pinto, and Antonio Rigon will offer insights, with Professor Duccio Balestracci from the University of Siena moderates the discussion. This volume marks the second installment of the Storia di_Ascoli series and seeks to chronicle the vivid medieval heritage of the city.

The editors highlighted the challenges faced during the book's creation due to recent adversities, but emphasized its significance for cultural identity. They expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts of various researchers and students who made this publication possible.

These events represent not only opportunities for engaging with new literary works but also platforms for dialogue on pressing cultural issues as they relate to historical and contemporary contexts. Whether through the lens of feminist literature, technological transformations, or local history, the upcoming presentations have something to offer for everyone invested in the rich world of Italian literature.
