Intense Combat Clashes Leave 140 Engagements In 24 Hours

Ukrainian and Russian forces engage in fierce battles, with extensive airstrikes and counterattacks reported.

Over the past 24 hours, 140 combat clashes have been reported between Ukrainian and Russian forces, highlighting the ongoing intensity of the conflict in the region. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine made this announcement on Telegram, detailing the hostilities as of 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

According to the latest operational information, the Russian military launched 65 air strikes against Ukrainian positions and populated areas, dropped 81 unexploded aerial bombs (UABs), and deployed almost 2,200 kamikaze drones. Furthermore, artillery assaults have surged, with reports indicating that the enemy has conducted approximately 5,300 artillery attacks within the previous day alone. This includes 88 attacks utilizing multiple launch rocket systems, signifying a substantial increase in the scale of hostilities.

One notable area of focus has been the Toretsk and Pokrovsk fronts, where Russian troops have intensified their efforts. Ukrainian soldiers successfully repelled 21 assaults in Kursk Oblast, illustrating staunch defensive tactics against these aggressive maneuvers.

On the Kharkiv front, Russian forces undertook 10 unsuccessful attempts to advance near Vovchansk and Mala Shapkivka, marking another failed effort by the Russian military to gain ground in strategically significant locations. Similarly, on the Kupiansk front, five attempts were made by Russian troops, all of which were thwarted by Ukrainian defenses, particularly around Petropavlivka and Zahryzove.

Moving towards Lyman, the situation was no different, as Russian soldiers engaged in 12 attacks, attempting to overrun Ukrainian positions near Yampolivka, Nadiia, Zelena Dolyna, and Nove. Reports continue to emerge from the Siversk front, where Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attacks near Verkhnokamianske, showcasing the resilience of the defensive positions.

On the Kramatorsk front, six separate assaults were reported against Ukraine’s military defenders at settlements including Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove, and Predtechyne. This underscores the ongoing volatility across several operational theaters as Russian forces seek to exploit perceived weaknesses.

Of considerable concern is the escalating frequency of assaults on the Toretsk front, where 21 attacks were launched against Ukrainian troops near Ozarianivka, Druzhba, and Toretsk settlements. The Pokrovsk front saw an even more intense skirmish, with Ukrainian defenders repelling an impressive 39 assaults across multiple locations including Oleksandropil, Zelene Pole, Yelyzavetivka, and many others.

In the Novopavlivka region, Ukrainian troops managed to fend off nine Russian assaults, particularly in Kostiantynopil, while in Huliaipole, two attacks were repelled near Pryvilne and Vilne Pole. The determination of the Ukrainian forces is evident, showcasing their commitment to maintaining territorial integrity amidst overwhelming odds.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's defenders on the Orikhiv front successfully repulsed three assaults near Shcherbaky and Stepove, and three more attacks were countered on the Prydniprovske front, demonstrating effective tactical responses against the Russian advances.

In the Kursk area, which has witnessed concentrated clashes, Ukrainian relative success was seen with 21 Russian attacks repelled. This accomplishment comes alongside a slew of Russian airstrikes, with 27 air strikes reported, utilizing 33 guided aerial bombs and completing 209 bombardments, including three from multiple-launch rocket systems.

Fighting has not only persisted on the main fronts but has also been noted in Volyn and Polissia, albeit with no evidence of any new offensive Russian formations reported. This adds a layer of complexity to the conflict, as Ukrainian forces remain vigilant to thwart any potential threats.

Despite the dire circumstances, Ukrainian defenders have continued to inflict significant losses on Russian troops in terms of both manpower and equipment. Continual resistance has actively undermined Russia's offensive capabilities, revealing the strategic challenges faced by the attacking forces.

As the conflict endures, with each engagement marking new chapters of resilience and determination from both sides, it becomes increasingly clear that the war continues to evolve, shaping the future of the region. The coming days and weeks will likely reveal just how much longer this brutal confrontation will persist.
