This February, the Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social (INSS) begins its payment schedule for retirees, pensioners, and recipients of social benefits. Starting today, February 24, those earning up to the national minimum wage of R$ 1,518 will begin receiving payments, with the process staggered according to the last digit of their benefit card number.
The payments are set to continue until March 12, but the schedule has been adjusted to accommodate the upcoming Carnival holiday. On March 3 and 4, banks and INSS offices will be closed, which means no payments will be processed during those days. Operations are expected to resume on March 5, when banks will open at noon and INSS services will resume at 2 p.m.
For those who receive up to the minimum wage, the payment schedule is as follows:
- Final 1: February 24
- Final 2: February 25
- Final 3: February 26
- Final 4: February 27
- Final 5: February 28
- Final 6: March 6
- Final 7: March 7
- Final 8: March 10
- Final 9: March 11
- Final 0: March 12
For beneficiaries receiving above the minimum wage, payments will commence on March 6, with staggered processing depending on the final digit of their benefit card:
- Finals 1 and 6: March 6
- Finals 2 and 7: March 7
- Finals 3 and 8: March 10
- Finals 4 and 9: March 11
- Finals 5 and 0: March 12
The INSS encourages beneficiaries to check their payment schedule via the Meu INSS website or mobile app, which also provides access to detailed information about their records and payment amounts.
With over 40 million beneficiaries relying on these payments each month, the adjusted schedule is significant for those planning their finances around the popular Carnival festivities. According to INSS reports, approximately 28.2 million people receive up to the minimum wage, with about 12.3 million receiving higher amounts.
Those needing assistance can contact the INSS via phone at 135 or access the Meu INSS platform for up-to-date information. It is also important to note beneficiaries can now retrieve their income reports for the 2025 tax declaration, with the INSS stating all relevant payment data is available there.
This year, the INSS has proactively adjusted the payment calendar to minimize disruption during the Carnival holiday, acknowledging the social and economic impacts these schedules have on the population.
