Inka Bause Celebrates 40 Years In Music With New Album

The beloved Schlager singer reflects on her journey and personal losses in her latest release.

On April 11, 2025, the vibrant world of Schlager music is celebrating a significant milestone as Inka Bause marks her 40-year stage anniversary. Known for her engaging personality and powerful voice, Bause has captivated audiences since she was a teenager. This special occasion coincides with the release of her latest album, titled "INKA - 40 Songs - 40 Jahre," which showcases her remarkable journey in music.

Inka Bause, now 56, first burst onto the scene at the tender age of 16 when she performed her hit song "Spielverderber" during the MDR television's New Year's Eve show in 1984. The song was penned by her father, Arndt Bause, a prominent composer in the former East Germany. Although originally written for another artist, Bause's rendition propelled her into the spotlight. Her talent was quickly recognized, as she was awarded the title of best young singer by the DDR youth magazine "Neues Leben" for three consecutive years from 1985 to 1987. Additionally, she received the prestigious "Silberner Bong" award five times in a row in the DDR television hit parade Bong.

As she celebrates this milestone, Bause's new album is not just a collection of her greatest hits; it also serves as a musical diary reflecting her life's experiences, including profound losses. The double album includes emotional tracks that address the deaths of her husband, Hendrik, who tragically took his life in 2016, and her father, who passed away in 2003. In an interview, Bause expressed how these personal tragedies have shaped her music, saying, "There are of course very emotional songs." The album was released on the same day as her anniversary celebration, and she plans to embark on a jubilee tour later this year.

In addition to her music career, Inka Bause has become a household name as the host of the popular matchmaking show "Bauer sucht Frau" (Farmer Seeks Wife), where she has been helping single farmers find love for over two decades. Her ability to connect with people and her genuine interest in their stories have made her a beloved figure in German television. In a recent podcast interview, Bause shared her thoughts on love and relationships, revealing that she has only fallen deeply in love about three times in her life. She admitted, "I am lucky that I don't fall in love quickly, and I don't want to fall in love quickly," emphasizing that love can bring significant stress.

On the same day, Bause made an appearance on the NDR Talk Show alongside comedian Lutz van der Horst. The show, hosted by Bettina Tietjen and Hubertus Meyer-Burckhardt, featured a diverse array of guests from music, politics, and journalism, making for an engaging and lively discussion. During the talk show, Bause reflected on her long career, her father's influence, and her ongoing journey in the music industry. She noted that her father's optimism and humor have been vital in shaping her outlook on life and her career.

As she looks forward to her future, Inka Bause remains committed to her craft. She has expressed a desire to continue performing until she is 60, but she is also aware of the importance of knowing when to step back. "I don't want to become addicted to this attention. At some point, I want to do something entirely different," she stated, indicating her willingness to embrace change.

In addition to her musical endeavors, Bause has also candidly discussed her approach to beauty and self-care. She revealed her use of Botox to manage the wrinkles she inherited from her father, saying, "I don't like my forehead," and acknowledged that while she maintains a healthy lifestyle, she also allows herself cheat days. "I am a cold shower person. Three to five minutes, and then I feel refreshed," she added, sharing her unique approach to wellness.

As her anniversary tour approaches, fans can expect a nostalgic yet fresh experience, with a setlist that includes both classic hits and new material. The album "INKA" features 40 songs, including five new tracks, and comes with an 80-page booklet filled with personal stories and memorabilia from her career.

Inka Bause's journey through the ups and downs of life has been a testament to her resilience and passion for music. As she celebrates this significant milestone, she continues to inspire others with her story of love, loss, and the pursuit of happiness. With her new album and upcoming tour, Bause is poised to remind her fans why she remains a beloved icon in the world of Schlager music.
