KENDARI, DETIKSULTRA.COM – The provincial government of Southeast Sulawesi has announced the school holidays for Ramadan 1446 H will last for one week. This is outlined in the Joint Circular (SEB) of the three Ministers No. 2 of 2025, SEB No. 400.1/320/SJ of 2025 concerning learning during the month of Ramadan. The Secretary of the Southeast Sulawesi government, A. Lio, stated, "Libur ramadan di tahun ini tidak berlangsung selama satu bulan penuh, akan tetapi hanya diberikan pada awal puasa saja dan saat menjelang Idulfitri." This means the holiday will take place from February 27 to March 5, 2025, after which students will resume classes on March 6. During this break, officials encourage students to engage in positive activities such as building relationships with family and the community.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Education Office has established its learning schedule for Ramadan 2025. Starting from February 27, students will receive assignments from school and engage in self-directed learning outside the classroom. Acting Head of Education, Sarjoko, explained, "Kegiatan pembelajaran dilaksanakan secara mandiri di lingkungan keluarga, tempat ibadah, atau masyarakat sesuai dengan tugas yang diberikan oleh sekolah." This period of independent learning will occur on February 27-28 and March 3-5, 2025, with regular classes resuming on March 6 until March 25, 2025, with additional religious activities incorporated. To ease the academic load during the fasting month, each lesson will be shortened by 10 minutes.
Sarjoko confirmed, "Jam efektif pembelajaran akan dibatasi, dengan cara mengurangi setiap jam pelajaran 10 menit," meaning high school lessons will be reduced from 45 to 35 minutes. Despite this, students will still start their day at 6:30 AM for five days of classes each week. This adjustment aims to allow students to observe their fast more comfortably.
Across the border, the Nunukan government has also released guidelines concerning the learning process during Ramadan. Education Head, Akhmad, shared insights saying, “Orang tua/wali diminta membimbing dan mendampingi peserta didik dalam melaksanakan ibadah.” Parents are encouraged to assist students during the transition to self-directed learning from February 27 to March 5, where they will study at home. Regular school activities will occur from March 6 to March 25, with expected beneficial activities to reinforce faith and character growth, especially for Muslim students.
During this holy month, academic hours will be adjusted to accommodate fasting, with Monday to Thursday school hours scheduled from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The end of Ramadan will see another holiday period starting March 31, allowing students to return to normalcy by April 9 after Idul Fitri. The adjustments across provinces are part of broader efforts by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion to create conducive learning environments during significant religious observances.
Notably, the Indonesian government will hold the isbat meeting on February 28, 2025, to determine the start of Ramadan 1446 H. This meeting will include various factions, from Islamic organizations to government representatives. Interestingly, the Muhammadiyah group has already announced the start of Ramadan for March 1, 2025, aligning Idul Fitri for March 31, 2025.
This diverse set of plans reflects Indonesia's multicultural fabric, allowing both individual and collective religious experiences during Ramadan. These holiday schedules reinforce the importance of education, faith, and community support during this holy period.
