IndiGo Expands UAE Network With New Flights

New daily flights from Mumbai and Kannur to Fujairah enhance regional connectivity and tourism

In a significant expansion of its international network, IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, has announced the launch of direct flights from Mumbai and Kannur to Fujairah, UAE, starting May 15 and 16, 2025. This new service marks IndiGo’s 41st international destination and its fifth in the UAE, complementing existing routes to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah.

The introduction of these daily flights is expected to enhance regional connectivity and boost tourism in Fujairah, a lesser-known emirate that boasts stunning natural landscapes and economic potential. To facilitate travel, dedicated bus services will connect passengers from Fujairah to key cities like Dubai and Sharjah, ensuring a seamless travel experience.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed enthusiasm about the new routes, stating, "We are pleased to announce the launch of daily direct flights from Mumbai and Kannur to Fujairah, a hidden gem in the UAE that’s rich in natural beauty and economic potential." He emphasized the strategic importance of Fujairah in trade, logistics, and tourism, saying, "With its growing importance, we are confident that these new flights will further enhance regional connectivity."

Fujairah International Airport’s General Manager, Captain Esmail Al Baloushi, echoed this sentiment, noting, "We are thrilled to welcome IndiGo to Fujairah International Airport. This partnership enhances our mission to offer passengers more travel options while improving the connectivity of Fujairah with key destinations in India." He further mentioned that the new flights would solidify Fujairah’s position as a preferred gateway for both international and regional travelers.

The demand for travel between the UAE and India has been on the rise, driven by residents, tourists, and business travelers alike. The new flights are anticipated to strengthen ties between the two nations, providing more convenient options for families, business activities, and exploration of new destinations.

IndiGo's expansion comes on the heels of its recent launch of direct flights to Krabi, Thailand, earlier this month, which marked the airline’s third destination in the Southeast Asian country. The airline is also set to introduce direct flights to Amsterdam and Manchester, UK, further expanding its international footprint.

In addition to the new routes to Fujairah, IndiGo recently acquired a leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, enabling it to enhance its service offerings. This aircraft will serve the growing demand for international travel and align with IndiGo's commitment to providing affordable and reliable travel options.

With this new addition, IndiGo's total weekly frequency between India and the UAE will increase to 275 flights, a testament to its robust growth and commitment to connectivity. The airline now serves 132 destinations worldwide, reflecting its dominance in the aviation market.

The strategic planning behind the flight schedules aims to optimize traveler convenience, with bus transfers carefully coordinated with flight arrivals and departures. This thoughtful approach is designed to facilitate easy access to some of the UAE’s most iconic attractions, from Dubai’s towering skyscrapers to Sharjah’s rich heritage sites and Fujairah’s scenic coastal charm.

As the airline continues to expand its network, it remains focused on enhancing the travel experience for its customers. By providing affordable fares and extensive connectivity, IndiGo is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of travelers in both India and the UAE.

In summary, the launch of direct flights from Mumbai and Kannur to Fujairah represents a significant milestone for IndiGo, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing travel options and regional connectivity. With the backing of a strong domestic network spanning over 90 destinations in India, the airline is poised to further strengthen its presence in the Middle East and beyond.
