The series features three ODIs and three T20Is in August 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced that the Indian men's cricket team will tour Bangladesh in August 2025 for a six-match white-ball series, comprising three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Scheduled to kick off on August 17, the series promises an exciting clash between two competitive cricketing nations and serves as vital preparation for the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup.

The tour will commence with the first ODI at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur. This match is set for Sunday, August 17, followed by the second ODI at the same venue on August 20. The third and final ODI will take place on August 23 at the BSSFLMRC in Chattogram. The T20I leg of the series will begin on August 26 in Chattogram, with the second T20I on August 29 returning to Mirpur, and the series concluding with the third T20I on August 31, also in Mirpur.

Here’s a detailed look at the schedule:

  • 1st ODI: August 17, 2025 – SBNCS, Mirpur

  • 2nd ODI: August 20, 2025 – SBNCS, Mirpur

  • 3rd ODI: August 23, 2025 – BSSFLMRC, Chattogram

  • 1st T20I: August 26, 2025 – BSSFLMRC, Chattogram

  • 2nd T20I: August 29, 2025 – SBNCS, Mirpur

  • 3rd T20I: August 31, 2025 – SBNCS, Mirpur

The BCCI made the announcement via their official X handle, which included a vibrant graphic showcasing the dates, venues, and the logos of both the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and BCCI. This post, tagged with #BANvIND, has already attracted significant attention from fans, who are buzzing with excitement about the upcoming matches.

BCB Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury expressed his enthusiasm for the series, stating, “This series promises to be one of the most exciting and most anticipated events in our home calendar. India have set the benchmark in international cricket across all formats, and the cricket-loving millions in both countries are sure to enjoy this contest.” He added, “Bangladesh and India have played some very competitive matches in recent years, and I am confident that this will be another hard-fought and entertaining series.”

Historically, India has had a strong record against Bangladesh in ODIs, winning 33 of the 42 encounters, while losing only eight, with one match producing no result. In Bangladesh, the two teams have faced off 25 times, with India securing victory in 18 matches, while Bangladesh has won six, and one match resulted in no outcome. The last ODI clash occurred during the Champions Trophy in Dubai, where India triumphed by six wickets.

In T20Is, India has also dominated Bangladesh, winning 16 out of 17 matches, with the lone defeat coming in a previous encounter. This series will mark the first time Bangladesh hosts India for a T20I bilateral series on home soil, adding extra significance to the matches.

As the Indian team prepares for this tour, they will arrive in Dhaka on August 13, 2025, giving them a few days to acclimatize before the ODI series begins. The tour comes on the heels of India’s packed schedule, which includes a home series against England earlier in the year featuring five T20Is and three ODIs starting January 22. Following the Bangladesh tour, India will face Australia in a series of three ODIs and five T20Is starting in October 2025.

The upcoming series against Bangladesh will be crucial for the Indian team, particularly as they seek to fine-tune their strategies and player combinations ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2026. With many players currently engaged in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which runs until May 25, the focus will soon shift to international duties.

As the cricketing world gears up for this exciting bilateral series, fans are left eagerly anticipating the matchups. With both teams looking to assert their dominance, the stage is set for a thrilling contest that promises to deliver high-stakes cricket. Will India continue its winning ways, or will Bangladesh rise to the occasion on home soil? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: cricket fans are in for a treat this August.
