The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India reacted swiftly, affirming their commitment to the security and well-being of Nepali students studying across the country. Randhir Jaiswal, the MEA spokesperson, emphasized the importance of these students, stating, "Nepali students studying in India are an important part of the enduring ties we share with Nepal. The government of India will take all necessary steps to safeguard the well-being of Nepali students in India." Protests erupted following the discovery of the student’s body, with her peers alleging harassment and lack of action from the institution based on prior complaints. Jaiswal conveyed the Indian government's empathy, saying, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of the Nepali student at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and express our sincere condolences to the grieving family." The Odisha police's response included the establishment of a hotline for Nepali students, providing them with immediate support and ensuring they feel safe reporting any issues.
