India Braces For Heatwave And Rain Across Regions

As temperatures rise, various states prepare for changing weather patterns and possible thunderstorms

The weather across India is taking a dramatic turn as the country braces for rising temperatures and possible rain in various regions. On Monday, April 14, 2025, Delhi is expected to experience heat, while states like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh may see some rainfall.

As the summer season progresses, many states are already feeling the effects of heatwaves. In Delhi, the maximum temperature is anticipated to remain under 40 degrees Celsius, providing some relief from the extreme heat that has been affecting the region. However, the weather is expected to be hot, with temperatures hovering around 36 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius, according to the weather department.

In Himachal Pradesh, the weather is predicted to be pleasant in areas like Shimla and Manali, with maximum temperatures ranging from 22 to 24 degrees Celsius and minimums between 9 to 11 degrees Celsius. However, higher elevations may experience light rain or even snowfall, offering a refreshing change from the heat.

Meanwhile, Jammu is forecasted to be hot and dry, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 34 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Srinagar may witness light rain with temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius. Leh, in the higher altitudes, could see a minimum temperature dipping to around -1 degree Celsius, along with potential snowfall.

In Rajasthan, cities like Jaipur and Jodhpur are expected to provide slight relief from the heat, with temperatures peaking at 38 to 40 degrees Celsius and minimums around 23 degrees Celsius. However, northern Rajasthan may experience dust storms with wind speeds of 40 to 50 km/h, prompting officials to advise residents to limit outdoor activities during peak hours.

As for Maharashtra, the weather is quite variable. Some districts are currently experiencing rain, while others are still suffering from the heat. The weather department has issued alerts for rain in several areas, including Mumbai, where precipitation is expected over the next couple of days. In the Vidarbha region, the heat continues to persist, but the weather department has forecasted thunderstorms and rain in districts such as Nandurbar, Kolhapur, and Sangli.

In the wake of these weather changes, the weather department has warned of a heatwave that may intensify starting Monday, April 14, particularly in Western Rajasthan. The orange alert for heatwaves indicates that conditions will worsen before they improve, with temperatures expected to rise significantly over the next few days.

Moreover, the weather department has also predicted thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in various parts of the country, including Eastern India, where states like Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura may experience heavy rain and lightning.

In Uttar Pradesh, the weather has already shown signs of instability. Cities like Lucknow and Hardoi have reported sudden weather changes, with light rain providing relief from the oppressive heat. The weather department has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in these areas.

In Raebareli, the weather shifted unexpectedly with cloudy skies and light rain, bringing some much-needed relief from the heat. Residents have welcomed the cooler temperatures, although power outages were reported in some areas due to the sudden weather changes.

As the weather continues to fluctuate across the country, residents are urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions. The weather department advises people to remain hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day. Farmers, in particular, are encouraged to monitor their crops closely as the changing weather patterns can significantly impact agricultural productivity.

Looking ahead, the weather forecast indicates that the intense heat will persist in many parts of North and Northwest India, while Eastern and Southern India may see further rainfall. The coming days will be crucial, as the weather department continues to monitor conditions and provide updates on the evolving weather scenarios.

In summary, as India prepares for the heatwave and potential rain, the changing weather patterns are a reminder of the ongoing climate challenges faced by the nation. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepared for whatever Mother Nature has in store.
