During their conversations, Nigeria's recent struggles with natural disasters, like floods, were also addressed. Modi expressed condolences for the recent havoc wreaked by floods, and Tinubu thanked India for aiding with timely relief supplies. Global security concerns took center stage as the duo discussed enhancing defense and security cooperation, especially with the rising threat of terrorism and piracy. They unequivocally condemned terrorism and acknowledged the need for stringent measures against terror financing networks and safe havens.
Nigeria's growing threat from piracy and other maritime risks was particularly alarming to the leaders as they laid out plans for coordinated actions to secure maritime routes.
