On February 28, 2025, Imarket announced its exciting plans for March with the commencement of the 'Price Reduction Declaration' alongside the 'Goraeit Festival', aimed at tackling grocery prices and ensuring stability for shoppers.
This month-long initiative will feature major grocery items at heavily discounted prices, allowing customers to stock their pantries without breaking the bank.
The offerings will include five main grocery items: premium Hanwoo beef, onions, Yeosu stir-fried anchovies, Seoul Milk fresh milk (2-pack), and Paldo Bibimmyun noodles. Starting March 3, customers can purchase the top-grade Hanwoo beef at the astonishing price of approximately 3,180 won per 100 grams, or 3,280 won for excellent grade beef, reflecting about 40% off previous prices. This pricing strategy results from preemptive negotiations with suppliers after the Lunar New Year, considering the expected decrease in demand as warmer weather sets in.
Hwang Un-gi, head of Imarket's Product Division, emphasized the store's commitment to value. “We aim to provide maximum benefits to our customers through the 'Goraeit Festival' and 'Price Reduction Declaration' initiatives,” he said. This rollout is part of Imarket's long-standing efforts to position itself as the leader in price stability across South Korea.
Meanwhile, Imarket is also offering onions (3kg) at 4,980 won, 38% below the regular price, benefiting from strategic bulk purchases earlier last year to bolster price competitiveness. According to the Korea Agricultural Products Distribution Information Center (aT), the retail price averaged 8,643 won for the same weight of onions as of late February, making the store's deal even more significant.
Imarket has also committed to offering Yeosu stir-fried anchovies (400g) at just 9,980 won, down 29% from the standard price. Despite last year’s decreased catch impacting ingredient costs, the careful pre-planning has allowed Imarket to maintain this low price point.
Besides these grocery staples, the promotion extends to everyday essentials such as sundubu (soft tofu), bean sprouts, low-fat milk, cheese, and various snacks and hygiene products. This indicates Imarket's wider strategy to support household budgets consistently.
Highlights of the promoted items also include the Seoul Milk 900ml two-pack reduced to around 3,780 won, marking about 15% off, and Paldo Bibimmyun noodles priced at only 2,980 won for four packs (12% discount). Such offers cater to the most popular products among shoppers, ensuring broad appeal.
Imarket’s initiative is not just confined to grocery items. From now until March 7, customers can also enjoy significant discounts of 20% on seasonal vegetables, should the shoppers collect Shinsga points. Featured items include Cheongdo minari (200g) and nabak (150g), priced competitively to encourage purchases.
Imarket aims to run not only targeted price reductions but also create enhanced shopping experiences overall. The company promises shoppers the chance to enjoy affordable shopping experiences year-round, backed by Hwang’s assurance: “Imarket strives to transform itself as the go-to shopping destination where customers can find reasonable pricing no matter when they come.”
This announcement sets the stage for March to be not just financially beneficial for consumers but also pivotal for Imarket's place in the competitive grocery market. Customers are encouraged to make the most of these opportunities and take part in Imarket's promotions.
With various efforts to stabilize prices, Imarket’s actions resonate through the community, helping families save money and eat well.
