Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur, recognized for #BuildingBusinessOwners, recently welcomed 45 students and five coordinators from Assam University, Silchar, for the Yuva Sangam Phase-V cultural exchange program.
This initiative, part of the Ministry of Education’s flagship program, runs from December 26 to 30, 2024, aimed at fostering connections among youth through shared tourism experiences, traditions, and technology. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Sanjeev Kumar, DRM of North Central Railway, who served as the Chief Guest.
Shri Kumar emphasized the importance of exploring India’s diverse heritage during his address. He stated, “India’s strength lies in its diversity, and programs like Yuva Sangam provide a wonderful platform for young minds to explore, experience, and embrace our nation’s rich heritage and culture. I encourage each of you to travel extensively, as it will not only broaden your perspective but also strengthen the bonds of unity.”
Prof. Ram Kumar Kakani, Director of IIM Raipur, welcomed the delegation and highlighted the importance of the opportunity for mutual learning and cultural exchange. He mentioned, “It is a privilege to host the enthusiastic students from Assam at IIM Raipur under the transformative Yuva Sangam initiative. This program, spearheaded by the Ministry of Education, is a golden opportunity to deepen connections between regions. The rich culture of Chhattisgarh has much to offer.”
During the inaugural ceremony, program kits were distributed to delegates, marking the start of what promises to be an enriching five-day experience exploring the culture and traditions of Chhattisgarh. The event will strengthen ties between Assam and Chhattisgarh, with IIM Raipur and Assam University acting as nodal institutions facilitating this endeavor.
The carefully planned itinerary promises engaging cultural experiences, starting with ice-breaking activities at IIM Raipur. Activities will introduce the delegation to vibrant Chhattisgarhi traditions through workshops and folk performances. Planned visits include the Sirpur Archaeological Site and Barnavapara Wildlife Sanctuary, showcasing the state's heritage and natural beauty.
Delegates will also explore industrial growth with visits to the Bhilai Steel Plant and the Purkhooti Muktangan, reflecting Chhattisgarh’s cultural richness. The program includes interactions with the state’s Governor and visits to the State Museum and the Governor’s House, culminating with city tours covering notable sites like Budha Talaab and Vivekananda Sarovar.
An engaging yoga session and movie screening will round out the visit, ensuring participants have memorable experiences and valuable lessons about Chhattisgarh’s tourism, traditions, and advancements. This cultural exchange embodies the essence of unity and diversity within India's youth.
