Manager Daniel Timofte stated that the deceased, which include two resident doctors and a stretcher-bearer, died due to medical causes unrelated to their professional activities. "In light of internal evaluations and available information, the causes of death are linked to medical conditions that have no relation to the professional activity carried out in the hospital. Speculations regarding possible overwork are not confirmed and are unfounded. The hospital is cooperating with the relevant authorities to clarify the aspects related to these events," Timofte said.
The deaths of the two resident doctors, who were associated with the Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Sfântul Spiridon Hospital, occurred within a span of just two weeks. The first doctor, who passed away, was reportedly under medical treatment and was being monitored at the Pneumoftiziologie Hospital in Iaşi. The cause of his death is still pending determination by the Institute of Legal Medicine.

In a statement reflecting on the situation, Alexandru Rafila noted, "I have seen the statements made by the prorector, Luminiţa Iancu, and we will need to consult with the Medical College to determine if there is any relationship between how they conducted their activities, possible overwork, and this unfortunate outcome."
