Hyundai Motor Group Announces Key Leadership Changes

Unsoo Kim and Euisun Chung set to lead as Hyundai Motor India and KAA presidents respectively.

Hyundai Motor Group recently announced significant leadership changes, with Unsoo Kim being reappointed as Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India and Euisun Chung being re-elected as the president of the Korea Archery Association (KAA). These changes mark important steps for the company and the sports association, aiming to maintain their strong achievements and forward momentum.

Unsoo Kim's reappointment is effective January 25, 2025. He has been with Hyundai Motor Company since 1991 and has been working with Hyundai Motor India since 2002. Under his leadership, Hyundai India achieved its largest initial public offering (IPO) earlier this year—a monumental milestone recognized as the largest IPO in Indian history. The company's board of directors approved Kim's reappointment, establishing confidence in his leadership capabilities going forward.

Chung's re-election as the 14th president of KAA signals the continuation of his influence within Korean archery. This will be his sixth consecutive term, overseeing operations from January 2025 to January 2029. Chung's leadership has been lauded for enhancing Korea's archery competitiveness at international events, showcasing his long-term vision and improved operational practices. Since taking office, the number of archers has dramatically increased, and Korean archers have seen remarkable success, particularly during the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the national team won five gold medals, including historic wins.

His contributions have also resulted from initiatives aimed at improving the administrative structure of the KAA, which is now viewed as one of the most stable and transparent organizations of its kind. Chung’s integration of corporate management principles within the KAA has encouraged significant public interest and support for archery as a sport.

The KAA has adopted modern technologies, developed with support from Hyundai’s research and development capabilities, to improve athletes' performance. This includes advanced training equipment to prepare for major Olympic events. Since Chung's leadership, Korea has consistently excelled at the highest levels of competitive archery, representing 18 gold, three silver, and four bronze medals across five consecutive summer Olympics from 2008 to 2024.

Hyundai's commitment to the sport, starting with Honorary Chairman Mong-Koo Chung’s presidency, has laid strong foundations for Korean archery. The group has supported the KAA for nearly 40 years and continues with Euisun Chung's leadership. They've signed agreements with the World Archery Federation, aligning their brand with key archery events, thereby extending their global reach.

Both Kim and Chung's appointments can be seen as part of Hyundai Motor Group's broader strategy to embody corporate responsibility and excellence, which have helped define the company's image and success across different sectors. The leadership changes come at pivotal times for both Hyundai Motor India and Korean archery, both positioning themselves for future aspirations and challenges.

With these appointments, stakeholders and fans alike are eager to see how these leaders will continue to shape their respective fields, leveraging their past success to pursue new ambitions. The future for Hyundai Motor Group looks promising under their seasoned leadership, as they collectively bring innovation, strategy, and support to their roles.
