Hungarian Twins Found Dead Near Aberdeen

A tragic discovery raises questions as one sister remains missing.

Authorities have uncovered the body of one of two Hungarian twin sisters who vanished earlier this month in Aberdeen, Scotland. The tragic discovery was made on the morning of January 31, 2025, near the Queen Elizabeth Bridge, close to the Dee River, where the sisters, Huszti Henrietta and Huszti Eliza, were last seen on January 7.

According to Police Scotland, the body was found around 7:55 AM, approximately one kilometer from the location where the twins were believed to have crossed the Victoria Bridge heading toward the local rowing club. Surveillance footage captured the sisters, both 32, just before their disappearance, highlighting their final known steps. Although the authorities have not officially confirmed the identity of the body discovered, they have informed the family of Huszti Henrietta.

The search for the twins began when they sent a message to their landlord early on January 7, stating they wouldn't be returning to their rented apartment. This alarming message raised concern among their family members, who noted the twins had not communicated any intention of moving out. Onlookers observed multiple police units stationed near the Aberdeen Boat Club and the area around the Queen Elizabeth Bridge, signifying the seriousness of the investigation.

Inspector David Howieson provided updates to the press, saying, "Our thoughts are with the Huszti family today. We are updating them on the latest developments and outlining our future search plans." These plans include focused efforts on the Dee River due to strong tidal currents impacting the search operations.

The investigation has drawn attention from both local and national media, with family and friends expressing their distress over the sisters' sudden disappearance. Joseph, the twins’ brother, expressed disbelief over their lack of communication about leaving their apartment.

Last seen around 2:12 AM on the fateful night, the twins had shared messages hinting at their plans but did not return home afterward. Surveillance footage indicates they may have spent only five minutes on the Victoria Bridge and the adjoining pathway before their communication ceased. The police classified the investigation as missing persons rather than foul play, indicating the absence of any suspicious circumstances at this time.

Despite extensive search efforts, which included boats and land patrols, the search for Huszti Eliza continues. She remains unaccounted for, and authorities are committed to providing any updates and support to the family as the investigation progresses.

Local residents have expressed their support and concern for the family, emphasizing the strong community ties present. The search has brought out numerous volunteers eager to assist, underscoring the collective heartbreak felt by many. Police Scotland remains vigilant as they navigate this challenging situation for the Huszti family, who are enduring unimaginable grief.

With the investigation still fluid, authorities have promised to inform the public of any developments relating to the case and have encouraged anyone with information to come forward. The families and communities affected by this tragedy hope for answers as they navigate the aftermath of this heartbreaking situation.
