Hot Wheels is revving up excitement among Formula 1 fans with the announcement of its new collectible car line, set to launch globally throughout 2025. The collection will feature eight of the F1 teams, offering products across various categories, including Hot Wheels’ Basics, Premium collectibles, and engaging track sets.
The brand's expansion follows the successful release of the limited edition 1:64 die-cast F1 branded car introduced last year. This new range includes single cars, five-pack assortments, and sophisticated premium models built for high-speed racing on Hot Wheels tracks.
The 1:64 scale Hot Wheels Basics cars are engineered for ultimate performance on specially-designed Formula 1 track sets, ensuring young racers have access to thrilling racing experiences from home. Among them are the Formula 1 Sprint Circuit and Formula 1 Sprint Race sets. The Sprint Circuit track invites players to compete, attempting to outmaneuver opponents and reach the chequered flag. Meanwhile, the Sprint Race set includes a DRS booster, giving cars the edge to zoom past challengers.
Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer at Formula 1, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “It’s fantastic to see the Hot Wheels Formula 1 collection begin to hit the shelves around the world. We want to drive our fans’ passion for racing, and these superbly and intricately-designed cars will allow them to experience the drama and excitement of Formula 1 in the palm of their hands at home.”
Roberto Stanichi, Executive Vice President of Hot Wheels and Global Head of Vehicles and Building Sets, echoed this excitement with, “The spirited response from fans around the world following our Hot Wheels and Formula 1 announcement has been thrilling. The next phase of the partnership is all about giving fans the products and experiences to bring together the worlds of Hot Wheels and F1.”
This partnership builds on Hot Wheels' previous foray with the sport — their limited edition F1-branded car, which debuted last year. Now, with the launch of this comprehensive collection, fans can celebrate their favorite teams and drivers at home.
The cars will represent teams such as Oracle Red Bull Racing, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, McLaren, BWT Alpine F1 Team, and others. Vehicles will come with authentic team liveries, driver numbers, and Pirelli tires, capturing the essence of real-world Formula 1 racing.
Scheduled releases span the year, beginning with the Oracle Red Bull Racing models, available now. Williams Racing models will hit the shelves in March, with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team models set to release by June.
To complement these new cars, the collection will include engaging racing experiences. The Grand Prix Circuit, which will feature advanced racing capabilities including manual DRS diverters and lap counters, is expected to be available this year, enhancing the competitive atmosphere for fans.
“The next phase of the partnership is about creating products and experiences like no other,” Stanichi added.
The initiative will also see Hot Wheels actively involved at various Grand Prix events throughout 2025. Fans can expect exciting activations and pop-up retail opportunities at selected circuits, reaching out to families and motorsport enthusiasts alike.
While the collection showcases the thrill of F1 racing, it also aims to attract younger fans interested in the sport. By offering both play and collectible features, Hot Wheels appeals to different aspects of fandom, encouraging both young racers and collectors alike.
Auto enthusiasts will be able to pre-order the models and sets via the Mattel website, with single die-cast vehicles priced around $8. Premium versions, boasting superior details and construction, will be available at higher price points.
With such promising developments, the Hot Wheels Formula 1 collectible car line positions itself as not just toys but avenues of engagement for fans longing to replicate the thrill of racing from their living rooms. It’s clear this partnership is geared to rev up interest far beyond standard marketing — it’s about creating experiences, passion for racing, and memorable moments for fans of all ages.
