Governor of Primorye, Oleg Kozhemyako, extended heartfelt greetings to local rescuers and veterans within the region. "Dear rescuers, employees, and veterans of rescue formations of Primorye, I congratulate you on Rescuers' Day! Highlighting the accomplishments of the previous year, Kozhemyako noted, "Primorye rescuers responded to 23 emergency situations, rescuing 378 people from fires and more than 830 during search and rescue operations, including rescues from forests and water bodies." He acknowledged the continuous efforts of the regional government to advance disaster response measures and improve equipment and training for rescue operations.
Further, he pointed out the importance of legislative changes aimed at preventing flooding disasters. "We’ve succeeded in proposing amendments to federal laws allowing for proactive riverbed clearances, which are aimed at preventing catastrophic floods," remarked the Governor, showcasing the strategic enhancements made to national emergency protocols.
The historical significance of this day stems from the establishment of the Russian Rescue Corps on December 27, 1990, which later led to the formation of the Ministry for Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Recovery (MChS).
