Cheung Tsz Ching emerged victorious, securing the Girls’ Under-19 title against fellow team Hong Kong, China representative, Leung Ka Huen, with scores of 11-6, 11-5, and 11-2. This victory marks another milestone for Cheung, following her success at the Hong Kong Junior Squash Championships.
"This victory follows her win at the Hong Kong Junior Squash Championships 2024 last month, marking a strong end to 2024," reported the Hong Kong Football Club. Meanwhile, Tam Tsz Shing clinched the Boys’ Under-19 title after battling Kugan Hashvind from Malaysia over five tight games, finishing with scores of 11-3, 10-12, 11-5, 8-11, and 12-10.
The tournament not only celebrated rising champions like Wong Sze Yu and Zheng Beverly Chen among other age categories but also highlighted the collaborative efforts of organizations such as the Evisu Group Limited, Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, and the Squash Association of Hong Kong, China, which sponsored and supported the event. "Me and Coleman go way back to 11, 12 years old playing juniors together... I'm really honoured," stated Shang, who ranked No. 50 prior to the tournament. His rapid rise was remarkable throughout 2024, being the first Chinese teenager to break the ATP Top 100 and reaching World No. 47 later, following his title win at Chengdu.
Shang's return to Hong Kong was equally heartfelt; he noted, "It's such a beautiful place, such a beautiful city. It's a special place for me. 2024 started and ended here for me."
