Honda Unveils Innovative CB1000F Concept At Osaka Show

The latest model aims to set new standards for sport motorcycles while honoring Honda's rich heritage.

Honda unveiled the CB1000F Concept at the 41st Osaka Motorcycle Show 2025, marking a major milestone for the iconic bike brand. Known for its high-performance road sports models, the CB series has long been a cornerstone of Honda, and this latest concept aims to redefine the future of sports motorcycles.

Designed by noted designer Suzuki, who joined Honda in 2015, the CB1000F Concept incorporates advanced technology and an innovative design philosophy dubbed "Re-Construction." According to Suzuki, the objective was clear: create a motorcycle that balances weight and power while offering a superior riding experience across various conditions.

This new model features a state-of-the-art water-cooled, DOHC inline four-cylinder engine, which provides a perfect blend of high performance and ease of handling. The diamond frame design enhances rigidity while maintaining a flexible feel, allowing riders to enjoy spirited riding or leisurely jaunts with confidence.

Suzuki expressed enthusiasm about taking on the design of such a historic model. “When given the chance to design for the CB series, I was both honored and excited,” he said, highlighting the pride associated with the CB brand. The process began with Suzuki and his team analyzing the evolution of CB motorcycles to ensure they captured the essence of what made the previous models the gold standard.

The intention behind the CB1000F Concept is also more than just a bike; it aims to evoke the proud legacy of the CB line. “This motorcycle should remind everyone of the CB story—its evolution, its legacy, and what it has come to represent in the world of motorcycling,” Suzuki mentioned.

Honda’s CB1000F Concept doesn't just look to the past; its innovative design aims to appeal to a new generation of riders. As Suzuki explained, the design philosophy focuses on creating something that feels traditional yet modern, hoping to attract those who are new to riding. "We want this bike to resonate with those who have never owned a Honda before but also feel familiar to long-time fans of the brand," he stated.

The CB1000F is engineered to be what Suzuki describes as the “Best Balance Roadster,” striking an equilibrium between performance and comfort, characteristics the CB series is known for. The flexibility and adaptability of the bike add to its overall appeal, making it suitable for both daily commuting and weekend adventures.

At the unveiling, Honda noted that the CB1000F Concept also features an exquisite attention to detail in its design elements. For instance, the engine and tank come with powerful motifs, while the bike's silhouette is meant to convey both strength and agility. The headlight placement reflects its sporty character, while a streamlined design towards the rear enhances its overall aesthetic appeal.

Suzuki emphasized the importance of creating '风格' (fugaku, meaning dignity) in the design: a dignified aesthetic that invites a broad range of riders to feel connection to the motorcycle, regardless of their experience level. “This is a bike with character that says, ‘You can have fun on me,’” he said, capturing the spirit Honda hopes to instill in this latest interpretation of the CB.

The CB1000F Concept will also be showcased again at the upcoming 52nd Tokyo Motorcycle Show from March 28 to March 30, 2025, and at the 4th Nagoya Motorcycle Show from April 4 to April 6, 2025. In addition to the concept bike, Honda will display two custom models linked to racing and creative collaborations, including the "CB1000F Concept Moriwaki Engineering" and the "HONDA CB1000F meets GUCCIMAZE."

With these new models, Honda aims to not only introduce cutting-edge designs but reaffirm the enduring legacy of the CB series. Ultimately, the CB1000F Concept is about bridging the past and the future—staying true to a heritage while meeting modern expectations of performance and design.

The Honda booth attracted significant attention at the Osaka Motorcycle Show, with enthusiastic crowds eagerly examining the new motorcycle models, reflecting a bright future for the brand and its beloved CB series. Suzuki remarked, “This is a turning point in my design career; I can really feel the excitement in how people are responding to our latest creation.” He hopes that this model will become a beloved ride for a new generation.
