Honda Vietnam has officially launched its new hybrid vehicle, the HR-V e:HEV RS, during the product introduction event titled “Green in Motion - Chuyển động mở tương lai xanh.” This event also showcased the electric motorcycle models ICON e: and CUV e:, underlining Honda's commitment to promoting green mobility and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, as outlined by both the Vietnamese government and Honda Corporation.
For the first time, the HR-V is equipped with a hybrid engine, specifically the e:HEV RS version, alongside the traditional gasoline engine options (L and G versions). The new e:HEV RS version features an e-CVT gearbox that includes an electric motor designed to charge the battery when necessary and assist in operating the traction motor. This traction motor boasts a maximum rotation speed of 3,500 rpm, producing a torque of 253 Nm.
The hybrid system combines a 1.5L internal combustion engine with an electric motor, yielding a maximum output of 105 horsepower (78 kW) at 6,000 to 6,400 rpm, and 129 horsepower (96 kW) at 4,000 to 8,000 rpm. This innovative design allows the HR-V e:HEV RS to achieve fuel savings of over 30% compared to the previous 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine.
The exterior of the HR-V maintains the sleek coupe SUV design, featuring a chrome-plated front bumper, full LED lights, and robust 18-inch wheels. Inside, all versions of the HR-V are outfitted with leather seats, an 8-speaker audio system, three type C charging ports, wireless smartphone charging, an 8-inch entertainment screen, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, navigation, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Additionally, the new model includes a remote start feature integrated into the smart key.
One of the standout features of the HR-V is its versatile interior, which offers three convenient modes: tall object mode, long object mode, and the ability to fold or flip the rear seats depending on the user's needs. Alongside the new hybrid variant, the 2025 HR-V continues to offer two gasoline engine versions (G and L), catering to a diverse range of customer preferences.
Honda's new HR-V is imported entirely from Thailand and is officially available for distribution nationwide starting April 4, 2025. The suggested retail prices, including VAT, are as follows: the HR-V e:HEV RS (Hybrid) is priced at 869,000,000 VND, the HR-V L (gasoline) at 750,000,000 VND, and the HR-V G (gasoline) at 699,000,000 VND. Compared to the previous generation, the 2025 HR-V sees a slight price increase accompanied by comprehensive upgrades in technology, comfort, and performance.
All versions of the HR-V come equipped with the new generation Honda SENSING safety package, which includes advanced features such as a collision warning system, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, a reversing camera, VGR steering system, hill start assist, eight airbags, and the Honda CONNECT entertainment system.
In addition to the HR-V launch, Honda is also developing an electric motorcycle named the Honda E-VO, which embodies the unique cafe racer style. This model is part of Honda's broader strategy to introduce a series of electric motorcycles before 2030. The E-VO features a neo-retro design with round headlights, vintage-style headlight covers, circular handlebar mirrors, rear-facing handlebars, and a one-piece brown seat. Its aerodynamic side panels not only enhance its futuristic look but also provide ample space for housing the battery and electric drivetrain.
The Honda E-VO is expected to be powered by an 8 kW electric motor, which will deliver performance comparable to that of a 150cc gasoline motorcycle. To facilitate user convenience, the E-VO will be equipped with the Mobile Power Pack e:, a removable battery system. While the exact range on a full charge remains unclear, Honda is actively working on developing an optimal battery swapping system to enhance user experience.
As the automotive industry continues to shift toward electric mobility, Honda's initiatives reflect a proactive approach to meet evolving consumer demands and environmental standards. The introduction of both the HR-V e:HEV RS and the E-VO marks significant steps in Honda's commitment to sustainability and innovation in the automotive sector.
