Holz Speckmann Revives Spring Festival After Five-Year Hiatus

Community celebration returns with exciting activities and discounts for attendees this weekend.

Halle. Holz Speckmann is gearing up for the return of its cherished spring festival after five long years, with promises of delightful activities and significant discounts. The festival is set to take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and will continue on Sunday, March 16, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, during which shoppers will enjoy extended shopping hours.

According to managing director Christian Brinkkötter, the return of this popular celebration symbolizes a revival of traditions, particularly after the cancellation of the last event due to COVID-19 just two days before it was scheduled to occur back in March 2020. Brinkkötter recalls, “Wir haben uns daher überlegt, das Fest so wie früher wieder aufleben zu lassen” (We decided to bring the festival back to life just like it used to be).

For the weekend, attendees can expect attractions such as children's rides, bouncy castles, and sizzling bratwursts ready to be grilled. The event will also feature new garden displays, allowing visitors to explore the latest outdoor decor trends. From now until March 25, 2025, Holz Speckmann, which has been operating since 1874, is offering shoppers a generous discount of 11.5 percent on various products.

Many shoppers might be particularly interested in the latest trends highlighted by Axel Hokamp, head of retail, who mentions the growing popularity of fence elements with light strips and fence posts topped with illuminated caps. There’s also high demand for larch wood, and managing director Christian Bergmann notes, “Bei der Fichte kämpfen wir mit den Preiserhöhungen” (For spruce wood, we are struggling with price increases). While the overall trend for wood prices is moving upward, Bergmann refrains from offering explicit advice on when to buy, saying it’s unpredictable, akin to stock market fluctuations.

Among the innovative products featured at the festival is the Wood Plastic Composite (WPC), marketed under the brand name Megawood at Holz Speckmann. This eco-friendly material comprises up to 75 percent fibers from the woodworking and milling industry, showcasing the company’s commitment to sustainability. Bergmann explains, “Ein Gedanke, der bei Kunden immer mehr an Bedeutung gewinnt” (A thought gaining more importance among customers).

Brinkkötter emphasizes the changes shoppers are seeking today, saying “Der Garten ist heute das zweite Wohnzimmer” (The garden is today's second living room). This reflects not only the increasing importance of outdoor spaces but also the launch of their new garden catalog full of trends for making home patios and gardens more inviting and livable.

Encompassing twelve hectares, the Holz Speckmann site has two undeveloped plots, contributing to 80 percent of the company's business being wholesale, and the remaining 20 percent focused on retail. To facilitate the logistical aspects, Geschäftsmanager Christian Bergmann highlights their fleet of twelve delivery vehicles servicing the local community, alongside collaborations with external freight companies for deliveries beyond the immediate vicinity.

Returning to tradition, the festival aims to not only celebrate the arrival of spring but also instill hope for future community gatherings and successful business relationships. With the reconnection of the community through this annual event, Holz Speckmann takes its firm stance as the largest provider of garden supplies and building materials within the region.

For those eager to join the festivities, both days promise engaging activities, and the opportunity to explore the newest trends, making it the perfect occasion to indulge in some shopping or simply feast on grilled delights.

Mark your calendars and prepare to celebrate the rebirth of the spring festival at Holz Speckmann — where tradition meets modernity.
