Hoi An Ranks Among Vietnam's Top Travel Spots For Tet 2025

With increasing demand for nature-connected getaways, Hoi An shines as the ninth most searched destination by Vietnamese travelers during the upcoming Tet holiday.

Booking.com, one of the world's leading online travel platforms, has announced the most favored domestic and international destinations for Vietnamese travelers during the upcoming Tet Nguyen Dan 2025. Based on search data and booking registrations from January 24 to February 9, 2025, Hoi An has earned the ninth spot among the ten most sought-after locations within Vietnam.

The top ten list includes popular destinations like Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Hanoi, Mui Ne, and Sapa. The survey indicates shifting preferences among domestic travelers who are leaning not only toward relaxation but also toward reconnecting with nature, friends, and family during the festive period.

According to Booking.com, "Du khách không chỉ muốn thư giãn mà còn muốn kết nối với thiên nhiên, gia đình và bạn bè." This insight reveals how Vietnamese travelers are increasingly seeking serene settings with picturesque landscapes, moderate weather, and peaceful environments ideal for unwinding.

Over the recent years, Hoi An has significantly enhanced its appeal among domestic tourists. The ancient town, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site back on December 4, 1999, stands as an emblem of the harmonious blend between heritage conservation and sustainable economic development. Following its designation, Hoi An has taken firm steps to promote its cultural assets, attracting visitors eager to experience its unique ambiance.

The tourism sector around Hoi An has flourished since the launch of the “Central Heritage Journey” initiative by the travel industry involving Vitours, which started its offerings back in 2004. This product has become indispensable for travel companies' tour packages, and for many Western and European tourists, experiencing this product is often seen as not having visited Vietnam.

Interestingly, markets such as South Korea, Japan, and China are major consumers of this heritage-based tourism product, aiding its international allure.

Looking back over the years, it's evident how much the ancient town has grown, especially with its recognition offering both preservation of its remarkable history and modern tourism infrastructure appealing to travelers worldwide.

With the upcoming celebration marking 25 years since its UNESCO recognition, Hoi An plans to initiate various special events throughout the year focused on sustainable heritage conservation and cultural promotion. The theme for this jubilee, "25 năm - Bảo tồn và phát huy bền vững giá trị Di sản văn hóa thế giới Đô thị cổ Hội An," signifies the city’s commitment to lifelong tourism enhancement through historical legacy.

So, why is ranking ninth significant for Hoi An? It's not merely about numbers; it reflects the growing awareness and preference for this fascinating destination among domestic travelers as they look for places offering both relaxation and rich cultural experiences.

The rise of Hoi An as a key player in Vietnam's tourism industry indicates broader trends among travelers valuing nature, connection, and heritage during significant cultural festivities like Tet. The local economy, supported by this insight, is likely to continue flourishing as Hoi An maintains its position as a premier destination.

Looking forward, it remains to be seen how these insights will shape tourism strategies and offerings, but one thing is clear: Hoi An has firmly established itself on the map as not only a historical site but as one of the central experiences defining Vietnamese tourism.
