On April 30, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City will come alive with a spectacular firework display to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the South Liberation and National Reunification Day. This year’s celebration marks a significant milestone in Vietnam’s history, as it remembers the end of the Vietnam War and the reunification of the country.
The firework displays will take place at 30 different locations across the city, featuring two high-altitude sites and 28 low-altitude sites. The festivities will kick off at 21:00 and will last for 15 minutes, ending at 21:15. This synchronized event promises to be a breathtaking experience for residents and visitors alike.
The two high-altitude locations include the entrance of the Saigon River tunnel in Thu Duc City, which will showcase an impressive 1,500 high-altitude fireworks, along with 30 low-altitude firework displays and 10 sparkler displays. The second location is the Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial Temple in Cu Chi district, where 500 high-altitude fireworks, 30 low-altitude displays, and one sparkler display will light up the night sky.
In addition to the high-altitude displays, there will be 28 locations featuring low-altitude fireworks, each equipped with 90 low-altitude displays and one sparkler. The sites include notable areas such as the Ngã Ba Giồng Martyrs Memorial in Hoc Mon, the Bến Nọc Martyrs Memorial in Thu Duc, and the Rừng Sát Martyrs Memorial in Can Gio, among others.
As part of the festivities, Ho Chi Minh City will also host a series of cultural and artistic programs under the theme "Colors of Uncle Ho's City." These events will take place in various locations, including the headquarters of the HCMC People’s Council and People’s Committee, Nguyen Hue Street, and the HCMC Opera House.
At 18:30, the celebration will kick off with an art program titled "Singing with Young City" at the main stage on Le Duan Street in District 1. Following this, a special art performance will take place at the Saigon Riverfront Park in Thu Duc City at 19:00.
From 19:00 to 19:25, a cavalry parade organized by the Ministry of Public Security will march down Nguyen Hue Street, accompanied by a brass band performance in front of the HCMC People’s Committee featuring units from the Military Region 7 Military Band and the Marching Band.
Between 19:30 and 21:30, a stunning 3D mapping art program will occur at the facade of the HCMC People’s Council and People’s Committee headquarters, combining music, light, and visual art to create an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Throughout the evening, the Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, Bach Dang Park area, and the Saigon River will host various performances, including folk music, symphonies, traditional and contemporary art, and Don ca tai tu performances. Water sports and flower boat parades will also take place, adding to the festive atmosphere.
As preparations for the event ramp up, the city has also implemented measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety during the celebrations. Many roads will be closed on April 27, 2025, from 18:00 to 22:00 to facilitate the firework display preparations. Streets such as Le Loi, Nguyen Hue, and Tôn Đức Thắng will be among those affected.
In anticipation of large crowds, the local government has arranged multiple parking facilities around the central areas, especially in District 1. Official parking sites include the 23/9 Park and Tao Dan Park, which will accommodate a significant number of vehicles, ensuring that residents and tourists can easily access the festivities.
Authorities have advised attendees to arrive early, park in designated areas, and adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone. The HCMC government has also emphasized the importance of maintaining public order and security during the celebrations.
