HK Express Launches Direct Flights To Japan's Komatsu

New route opens travel options for Hong Kong residents to Northern Japan's scenic cities.

Hong Kong residents will soon enjoy direct access to Northern Japan with HK Express launching its new flight route to Komatsu Airport, Ishikawa Prefecture. Starting April 24, 2025, the airline will operate three flights weekly, allowing travelers to reach the area known for its beautiful landscapes, historical sites, and rich culture without the hassle of transferring via Tokyo.

This development opens up exciting opportunities for those wishing to explore cities like Kanazawa, Toyama, Kaga, and Fukui, all known for their unique attractions and natural beauty. The approximately four-hour flight will offer convenience for travelers wanting to immerse themselves fully in Japan's captivating heritage.

HK Express is celebrating the launch with special limited-time offers. One-way tickets to Komatsu or Nagoya will be available starting at just HKD 208. This promotional price includes one piece of hand luggage and one checked bag, though it does not cover associated taxes and fees. Travelers can take advantage of this offer by booking between 2:00 PM on March 3 and 11:45 PM on March 4, 2025, through the HK Express website or mobile app.

“Starting April 24, HK Express will provide the only direct flights from Hong Kong to Komatsu Airport, making it easier for travelers to explore the beautiful Northern Japan regions,” said HK Express officials. Such connectivity is expected to entice more visitors from Hong Kong, simplifying travel arrangements and providing direct access to the vibrant culture and scenic vistas of the area.

With Komatsu located at the heart of Ishikawa Prefecture, it serves as the perfect gateway for exploring iconic landmarks. Kanazawa, home to Kenrokuen Garden—one of Japan's three great gardens—offers travelers stunning natural beauty coupled with historical significance. The city’s Samurai districts and traditional crafts, such as Kaga Yuzen silk dyeing, give insight and appreciation of Japan's rich cultural fabric.

The new flight route from HK Express is set to transform how residents travel to Northern Japan. Previously, travelers would need to navigate through Tokyo and take the Shinkansen, making for lengthy trips. Now, they can fly directly to Komatsu Airport and easily reach the area’s renowned destinations.

The scheduled flights will depart from Hong Kong every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 2:00 PM, arriving at Komatsu by approximately 7:00 PM. Return flights from Komatsu will leave at 7:45 PM, landing back in Hong Kong at around 11:00 PM.

Travelers can also take advantage of “Open Jaw” bookings, allowing them to customize their travel itineraries. They may combine arrival or departure at Nagoya with Komatsu, making it even easier to explore multiple locations during one trip.

Those interested should act quickly, as the promotional fare applies to travel dates between April 24 and October 25 for Komatsu and March 10 to October 25 for Nagoya. The limited availability and demand for this newly launched route mean tickets could sell out fast; interested travelers are encouraged to book their tickets early.

“To celebrate the launch of the new Komatsu route, HK Express is offering limited-time discounts with one-way fares to Komatsu or Nagoya starting at HKD 208,” said the airline's spokesperson. This opportunity makes traveling to Japan not only more accessible but also more affordable for Hong Kong residents.

Overall, HK Express’s new route to Komatsu Airport highlights the growing connectivity between Hong Kong and Japan. This is especially significant as travel experiences are taking on new meanings post-pandemic—with people eager to return to exploring and discovering different cultures and environments. The easy access to Japan’s natural beauty and historical wonders from one of its underserved regions will likely lead to increased interest and tourism.

With flight tickets set to go on sale soon, travelers would do well to prepare for their adventures to Japan’s Northern region. The new offerings from HK Express certainly promise to make this summer and autumn one of exploration and discovery for many.
