Historic Racing Thrills At Hockenheim Revival Event

Over 500 participants showcase legendary vehicles in thrilling races

The ADAC Hockenheim Historic 2025 – Das Jim Clark Revival is underway, celebrating its 20th anniversary from May 9 to May 11, 2025, at the iconic Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg. With over 500 participants showcasing their historic racing vehicles, the event is a must-see for motorsport enthusiasts. This year’s festival features a dazzling array of automobiles, from Formula cars to GT vehicles, offering a nostalgic journey through nearly a century of racing history.

As the event unfolds, attendees are treated to an impressive display of racing legends, including the charismatic Roland Asch, who made his mark in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM). Asch, a two-time runner-up in the DTM, is back on the track, competing in a Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo1 from 1989 and a Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, which he built alongside his son, Sebastian. Despite being 74 years old, Asch's passion for racing remains unbridled. "Hockenheim is my home race, and I've always been a fan of Jim Clark," he said, reflecting on the significance of the event.

This year’s Hockenheim Historic features remarkable categories, including the Masters Racing Legends, showcasing Formula 1 cars from 1966 to 1985, as well as the Masters Endurance Legends, which highlights Le Mans vehicles from the 1990s and 2000s. The Tourenwagen Golden Ära, with its 92 participants, is particularly notable, representing classic touring cars that have become cultural icons.

Not only does the event focus on racing, but it also offers a plethora of attractions for fans and families alike. The Kongress-Pavillon hosts an exclusive exhibition dedicated to Jim Clark and Team Lotus, featuring original artifacts that celebrate the legacy of one of racing’s greatest drivers. Additionally, young visitors can participate in the Historic Slotcar Grand Prix, with special access to the slotcar track on Sunday.

As fans wander through the event, they’ll find numerous stands and exhibitions, including a modern Red Bull Formula 1 car and displays from the Audi Sport racing legends, showcasing the brand's rich motorsport history. The 4000-square-meter experience area at the box roof is designed to engage visitors with various activities, from classic vehicle showcases to thrilling simulators.

For those seeking action, the east grandstand area transforms into a vibrant hub for brand clubs and activities. Classic car clubs, including Mercedes-Benz, MG, and Porsche, will present their vehicles, fostering conversations among enthusiasts. The Unimog-Club Gaggenau offers off-road driving experiences on the "Iron Schöckl," featuring inclines of up to 100%. Visitors can also challenge themselves in an e-kart race or test their skills in a Formula 1 simulator.

As the weekend progresses, attendees can catch a glimpse of racing legends and even request autographs from their heroes. The event is designed to be an immersive experience, with a short documentary titled "Das letzte Rennen eines Stars" by Marten Taege, detailing Jim Clark's tragic accident in 1968, screened in a small cinema setting.

Ticket prices for the ADAC Hockenheim Historic are quite accessible, with day passes priced at 17 Euros for Friday, 39 Euros for Saturday, and 34 Euros for Sunday. A weekend pass covering all three days is available for 54 Euros, and students can enjoy half-price admission. Children under 14 years old and wheelchair users can attend for free, making it a family-friendly event.

Asch, reflecting on the charm of classic racing events like this, noted, "In the past, everything was less professional but perhaps more honest and relatable for fans. The spectators can get so close; our team is there with a tent, and we sit together at night just like in the old days. That’s very nice." His sentiment captures the essence of the Hockenheim Historic – a celebration of motorsport history that brings together fans, families, and legends.

The excitement continues as the event progresses, with qualifying sessions and races scheduled throughout the weekend. On Friday, the program kicks off at 09:00 with the qualifying for the ADAC Graf Berghe von Trips Pokal, followed by various practice sessions and qualifying heats for the participating series. Saturday promises to be just as thrilling, with the qualifying for the Prototype Cup Germany starting at 09:00, leading into a full day of races.

Sunday will see even more action, with races including the second heat of the Masters Racing Legends and the BOSS GP, ensuring that the final day of the event is packed with adrenaline and excitement. With the historic Hockenheimring providing a stunning backdrop, the 20th anniversary of the ADAC Hockenheim Historic is shaping up to be a memorable celebration of motorsport.
