Hillary Clinton Attends Trump's 2025 Presidential Ceremony

Former Secretary of State dons Democratic blue, showcasing unity amid divided political climate.

Hillary Clinton arrived at Donald Trump’s 2025 presidential inauguration on Monday, wearing a dark blue pantsuit. Her coat, which featured a single top button, was also adorned with a gold-and-blue pin on her left side. The former Secretary of State coordinated with her husband, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, who wore a dark navy suit and blue tie. Hillary accessorized her look with the Peace on Earth brooch created by jewelry designer Ann Hand. The piece featured a gold dove flying above a globe. Hillary has previously worn the accessory on different occasions.

Hillary and Bill Clinton were announced at the Capitol Rotunda, addressing the crowd. Former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush also donned blue suits and blue ties, reflecting the color of the Democratic Party. Hillary has often embraced pantsuits, which she wore throughout her time as first lady, New York State Senator, Secretary of State during Obama’s administration, and her own history-making runs for President in 2008 and 2016.

Hillary Clinton’s first inaugural gown, worn when her husband was sworn in as the 42nd president, was a violet-beaded sheath gown with iridescent blue velvet silk mousseline overskirt, displayed at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History alongside other gowns from the museum's “Changing Times, Changing First Ladies” collection.

On this occasion, Hillary wore her blue ensemble not just as fashion but as a statement. Donald Trump’s second inauguration as the 47th President of the United States took place amid traditional ceremonies including worship at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Following the swearing-in ceremony, guests and supporters were to attend three evening celebrations: the Commander-in-Chief Ball, Liberty inaugural Ball, and Starlight Ball.

The prominence of the Clintons did not go unnoticed, particularly as they arrived together, showing united solidarity. The couple’s choice of attire starkly contrasted with MAGA red, often associated with Trump, and instead embraced Democratic blue - illustrating their political alignment. Bill looked sharp as he joined his wife at the ceremony, remarking, "He’s still dividing, he’s still blaming, he’s still belittling other people. He creates chaos, and then he sort of curates it as if it were precious art.”

Hopes and sentiments were voiced strongly by Hillary as she reflected on the upcoming political climate. At the Democratic National Convention last August, she recalled her own race against Trump, stating, "I wish my mother and Kamala’s mother could see us. They would say, ‘Keep going.’ Women fighting for reproductive health care are saying, ‘Keep going.’ Families building lives, parents stretching to afford childcare, young people struggling to pay their rent—they’re all asking us to keep going.”

The atmosphere at the event was notable not just for the Clintons, but for multiple high-profile attendees including Melania Trump, Jill Biden, and Kamala Harris, all making significant fashion statements, as well. Harris arrived dressed simply yet elegantly, embracing the formal occasion with her monochromatic black look. Jill Biden and Melania Trump both donned coordinated outfits, communicating their own messages through fashion.

Hillary’s return to the national spotlight, particularly within such high-stakes political events, highlights the durability of her public persona and her enduring influence on the Democratic party. Despite past electoral loss, Clinton remains vocal, urging her supporters to persist and maintain focus, especially against the backdrop of misinformation and conspiracy theories prevalent today. "So no matter what the polls say, we can’t let up. We can’t get driven down crazy conspiracy rabbit holes. We have to fight for the truth," she asserted, emphasizing the need for resilient activism.

The inauguration served as both a ceremonial occasion and political battleground, underscored by the Clintons’ historical presence and dedication to their principles. Understanding their impact at the Trump inauguration reveals more than just fashion—they represent the resilience and continuity of Democratic ideals as they carry forward their vision for the country.
