Mumbai: A significant development in the investigation of Disha Salian's tragic death has captured public attention once again as an FIR has been filed against several prominent personalities. The FIR names Aaditya Thackeray of the Shiv Sena (UBT), actors Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, and former police officials, including former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh and dismissed officer Sachin Vaze. According to the complaint submitted to the Commissioner of Police's office, which was accepted by the Joint Commissioner (Crime), these individuals are alleged to have played roles in a cover-up surrounding Disha's death.
Disha Salian, who was the manager of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after reportedly falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad. This incident occurred just six days prior to Sushant's untimely death, which took place on June 14, 2020 at his Bandra residence, creating a web of speculation and conspiracy theories that have persisted since.
Satish Salian, the father of Disha, has recently approached the Bombay High Court, pushing for a fresh CBI investigation into the circumstances surrounding his daughter's death. The petition alleges political interference and questions the integrity of the initial investigation, which has been a point of contention amongst the public. Salian's lawyer, Nilesh Ojha, who filed the FIR, has characterized Parambir Singh as the “mastermind” behind the alleged cover-up. He accused Singh of conducting a press conference filled with "fabricated lies" intended to protect Thackeray.
The FIR claims that findings from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) suggest Thackeray's possible connections to a drug operation, which has fueled further demands for a thorough investigation. Ojha asserted, "No clean chit has been given. People are running a false narrative. This closure report has no such value before the law," emphasizing the need for continued inquiries into both Disha's and Sushant's deaths despite previous investigations concluding their cases.
The gravity of the allegations has made this case stand out in India, drawing widespread media coverage and public interest, particularly given the involvement of influential figures. Salian's father has been persistent in his quest for justice, having already filed various complaints and petitions, and these new developments seem to be reinvigorating calls for accountability in the case.
On the night of her death, Disha reportedly held a party attended by several of the accused individuals. Following her tragic fall, the initial investigation deemed it an accident; however, many, including her family, have raised concerns about the credibility of both the investigation and the judicial processes that followed.
In response to the FIR, Thackeray strongly denied the allegations, describing them as baseless and politically motivated, dismissing them as a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing his reputation. He stated that the claims made against him are repeated fabrications that lack evidence.
Additionally, the Bombay High Court has scheduled a hearing related to the writ petition concerning Disha Salian's case for April 2, 2025. This development is poised to bring renewed scrutiny to the long-controversial case, which has been a touchstone for debates around accountability and transparency in high-profile investigations.
The juxtaposition of Disha's and Sushant's deaths has turned their stories into symbols of a broader discourse on mental health, celebrity culture, and the dark alleys of fame in India. As the investigation unfolds, many are left wondering if real progress can be made in understanding the events surrounding these tragic losses. The coming weeks are expected to shed more light on this sensitive issue that continues to resonate deeply within the fabric of Indian society.
