High Potential Season 2 Filming Begins This May

Kaitlin Olson reveals updates on the eagerly awaited continuation of the hit series.

The popular crime drama High Potential continues to capture audiences’ attention following its season finale over a month ago. The show, which has topped charts on both Hulu and Disney+, has quickly established itself as one of the year’s breakout hits, averaging over 10 million viewers per episode. Its success prompted a renewal for a second season, which is set to begin filming in May 2025.

Lead star and producer Kaitlin Olson, known for her roles in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Hacks, recently provided fans with insights into the upcoming season during a Q&A in London. "I just wrapped Hacks... yeah so season four just finished, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia… I finished the end of last year – Season 17 is coming out… in the spring, I believe. And I’m gonna go home and be a mum for a couple months and then we start shooting this again in May," Olson said, highlighting her busy schedule and foretelling what’s to come.

One significant plot point for Season 2 will be to clarify Morgan Gillory’s (Olson) complicated relationship with her ex-partner Ludo (Taran Killam). Showrunner Todd Harthan shared his excitement about delving deeper into their dynamics and revealed, "What was it like the day they sat down and had a conversation about what wasn’t working? How did they decide how they should co-parent? What caused that? So now it’s our job to come up with a story." Fans can expect revelations that give context to their relationship as they navigate shared parenting responsibilities.

The first season of High Potential ended with a thrilling cliffhanger that left many questions unanswered, particularly concerning Roman, Morgan’s ex who has been missing for many years. The season finale concluded with Detective Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) delivering a crucial piece of news regarding Roman, making viewers eager for answers about his fate. This unresolved tension is sure to be a focal point moving into the next season.

High Potential's expanding narrative landscape may feature familiar faces as Jocko Sims, who played Ronnie Oliver in the first season, expressed hope for his character's return. Sims shared in an interview, "A hundred percent. I'm going to tell you now, on that show, I've talked to the showrunner, we're having conversations, we're trying to figure that out. He's not in the LAPD, he's in the FBI, and it's got to all make sense." His character, who brings significant backstory to Detective Karadec, could be instrumental in uncovering future plot developments.

The series, based on the French show HPI, continues to resonate with viewers due to its unique premise about a gifted woman who collaborates with police to solve crimes while juggling her complex personal life. As production ramps up for Season 2, fans are excited about the deeper exploration of character dynamics and unresolved personal dramas that await. High Potential stands out amongst ordinary crime dramas by combining thrilling cases with personal storytelling.

The anticipation builds as the cast prepares to return to set later this year, promising to pair gripping narratives with compelling character arcs. Olson’s relentless work ethic reflects her dedication to delivering engaging content for the audience, and there’s high confidence that Season 2 of High Potential will exceed expectations.

As viewers gear up for the new season, they can stay tuned for updates from the cast and crew, as excitement builds around what lies ahead in the story of Morgan Gillory and her complex relationships. With the groundwork laid by Season 1 and the promise of more intricate storytelling and character development, High Potential remains on track to build on its successes when it returns to screens in the near future.
