Hero Vida Z Electric Scooter Prototype Spotted Testing

The Hero Vida Z electric scooter made its global debut last year at EICMA, and now, a prototype has been spotted testing on Indian roads. This exciting development indicates that Hero MotoCorp is gearing up for a launch that could shake up the electric scooter market in India.

Based on a modular architecture, the Hero Vida Z showcases a chic and modern design. It features an LED headlamp, a digital instrument console, and a flat seat complete with a grab rail. Notably, the prototype lacks a small pillion backrest, which was present in the model showcased at EICMA. This indicates a shift towards a more streamlined design, perhaps aiming for a broader appeal.

According to Hero MotoCorp, the Vida Z is expected to come equipped with multiple battery options ranging from 2.2 kWh to 4.4 kWh. These batteries will be removable, similar to those found in the Vida V1, allowing for greater flexibility and convenience for users. This feature is particularly important in a market where charging infrastructure is still developing.

The Hero Vida Z is anticipated to compete head-to-head with other electric scooters from established brands such as Bajaj, TVS, Ather Energy, and Ola Electric. The family-oriented electric two-wheeler market is currently dominated by the TVS iQube and the Bajaj Chetak, both of which reported impressive sales figures of over 20,000 units in February 2025. The Ather Rizta follows with 9,019 units sold, while the Vida V2 stands at fourth place with 6,146 units.

Interestingly, the Vida V2's sales in February 2025 were over four times higher than the same month in 2024, indicating a positive trend for Hero MotoCorp in the electric vehicle segment. This is a crucial time for the company as it seeks to capitalize on the growing demand for family-oriented electric scooters.

The Hero Vida Z has been spied testing for the first time since it was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. This prototype reveals a more family-friendly design compared to the sportier Vida V2. The headlight and taillight remain unchanged, but the body panels exhibit smoother lines, likely to attract a wider audience.

Moreover, the spied scooter features a new single-tone yellow shade and a long single-piece seat, differing from the split-seat setup of the Vida V2. This change is indicative of Hero's strategy to appeal to families looking for practical and comfortable electric scooters.

One of the notable advantages of the Hero Vida Z is its charging capability. Unlike the recently launched Honda Activa e:, which requires battery removal for charging, the Vida Z allows batteries to be charged at home without removal. The Hero Vida V2 currently starts from Rs 96,000 and goes up to Rs 1,35,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). With a competitive price point and innovative features, the Vida Z is poised to make a substantial impact in the growing electric scooter market.
