Weather forecast predicts thunderstorms and heavy rainfall as locals urged to take precautions.

The weather forecast for Cancun on Saturday, December 28, 2024, indicates mostly cloudy skies with continued rains expected across much of Quintana Roo. The State Coordination of Civil Protection of Quintana Roo (Coeproc) reports consistent influx of tropical maritime air toward the Yucatan Peninsula.

Rainy Day Ahead: Another Wet Day Forecasted

This system will keep the skies partially cloudy with increasing cloud cover throughout the day. Expect intervals of heavy showers with occasional electrical activity. The daytime will be warm and mild to fresh early on. Winds will be gusting from 40 to 50 km/h mainly along the coastal areas.

Conditions are set for quite the wet start to the weekend. The 18th stationary front is located over the northern and northeastern portions of the country. Most of the Yucatan Peninsula will experience mostly cloudy conditions throughout the day. Early morning could see patches of fog across southern and eastern Campeche, as well as large parts of Yucatan and Quintana Roo. Expect mild ambient temperatures, fresher conditions particularly in Campeche.

Morning may bring isolated morning rains. Come afternoon, the temperatures are predicted to reach between 30 and 35 °C across Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. There will be intense localized rains, accompanied by thunderstorms which might lead to flooding and puddling, particularly affecting Yucatán and Quintana Roo, with lesser showers expected in Campeche. Winds are variable ranging from 10 to 20 km/h with 30 to 40 km/h gusts.
